Our Crybaby-In-Chief announced that he was giving out "Fake News" Awards on January 7th at 5 pm just after New Year's Day (or maybe it even was on Jan 1--I don't remember now). Then when Jan 7th rolled around he announced that they would be on Wednesday Jan 17th (today) because they were "more widely anticipated" and "more important" than anticipated!
Celebrities had a blast with the announcement. Chrissy Tiegen announced that she would reporting live from the Red Carpet. Stephen Colbert put up a billboard in Times Square suggesting categories that he should be nominated. (My favorites were "Best Chex Mixing" and "The Eric Trump Memorial Award for Disappointment") Today Mark Hammill tweeted pictures of himself getting his hair highlighted so he would be ready to walk the Red Carpet for the event!
Well, people started checking Twitter at 5 pm today (assuming it was at the same time as originally announced) and. . . nothing. 6 pm? Nothing. Around 6:30 pm Trump started tweeting normal things (for him) about businesses moving their operations back to the USA, Christmas sales being increased this year, etc.
It is now 7:10 pm and there are still no Trump tweets about his #FakeNewsAwards. Could it be that the Fake News Awards announcement was. . . fake news?
