For Russia, maybe you can think warm

I took this shot with 35mm way back in the late 1990s.

Dang, talk about cold. I really would not want to live anyplace that would get as cold as they do, it's worse that a deep freeze over there. So, I put a photo of a morning glory up so that perhaps you might be able to think warm while you are shivering. Hopefully it will warm up to -30f in no time, somehow I think that would seem warm to you.

It is not uncommon to have those temperatures in some parts of Russia. I cannot imagine how people can live there.

Exactly @LadyDuck but even then I have to wonder if they'd be warm enough. I am so glad I don't live there.

@rebelann I do not believe you can be warm enough with that kind of temperature.

@rebelann They need to put several layers of clothing, then a winter jacket, scarf, hat, mittens and special boots.

@rebelann It's beautiful, for the next week or more. They call it a January thaw, we had one a couple weeks ago, also.

I literally cannot even imagine how cold that would be. When it was -12°F here a few weeks back it was nearly unbearable for me. I had no idea anywhere actually got -88°F that is just insane to me wow I am shocked right now!

@rebelann I didn’t read the article but I did see the little information in the link part plus what you wrote. My first thought was how anyone homeless would not survive. My second thought was anyone who moved there from somewhere warmer would not be prepared for that brutal cold.

I seriously doubt they have any homeless in such a cold place @shaggin and that's a really good point, but wouldn't someone who just moved there from a warmer climate be given some kind of warning about just how cold it can get?

@rebelann hopefully but some people won't believe it until they see it for themselves. Perhaps they broke down on the road and were walking to get help. Oh all these terrible possibilities are making me sad I need to stop wondering.

Today was crazy warm for January though cooler than yesterday. Too Spring like. Hubby and I got some property work done cause it would be stupid to stay indoors. I let the hens run around and have a pecking good time.

Not a fan of supper cold. When the temperature hits -40°, F or C it's too cold for me. That said....I've had to go out in bitterly cold weather. That's when you pray that the car will start....

@rebelann Many places here in the US are colder than 50F this time of yr. And I prefer 80F at the most when it comes to heat.

It depends on which side of the country you're in @KrauseHome I'm in the southwest area as well as the farthest west point of TX. Even in winter it rarely stays cold for more than a few days but boy does it stay hot for months in spring, summer and at least in the 90s for most of September and October. Hot to me is 100+, anything lower is just warm and I love it.

@rebelann It might have been slammed pretty hard by our own standards, but not by global standards. The recent strong winds blew a few trees down (and my garden fence), but that was it. My area doesn't seem to suffer as much as other parts.

I can see that but frankly my dear I prefer the over 50f range, any thing below that is too cold already. Of course, being a desert rat, I much prefer temperatures well over 80f.

That might be true @misunderstood_zombie but when moving into extreme weather one needs to have the proper clothes to handle the weather, the companies that hired these men should have provided the proper outer gear for them.
