silence is golden, definitely

She didn't shut up. I had the staffroom to myself for forty minutes before everybody else finished supporting and came to spoil the silence. She has a loud voice. LOUD. And she's from Geordie Land {that's up north for the uninitiated in foreign lands} which means she's LOUD and she has an accent. Have I yet mentioned that she likes to talk about herself? Loudly. With an accent. At the end of the day all I want to do is chill. I want to enjoy some relaxation time and let the rubbish stuff of the day ebb away, drifting to NoWhereLand. I don't mind chatter. Quiet chatter, of folk also letting the rubbish stuff of their day drift away, is good. Little pockets of conversation is nice. An occasional guffaw or giggle is splendid. But please, do not sit in the middle of the room and assume that I want to listen to your loud Geordie accent as it talks about itself for thirty minutes. Honestly, do people not have work to be getting on with?!

There is nothing wrong with the Geordie accent. I lived in Sunderland for five years and was in quite a long-term relationship with a Mackam lad; I still can't tell the difference, but I think Geordie is a bit harsher. There is everything wrong with ANY accent which talks loudly about itself for eons. And bear in mind, we don't *do* accents down south, unless someone is born and bred in deepest, darkest, rural Norfolk. And then it's all, 'Av you gotta loight, boi? We is refined, innit?

You could use some time in my house. Now that I am alone at times I talk to myself just to make sure I still have a voice. Other than that the days are so quiet you can hear a pin drop. My cat Sid has become used to this so when he gets into some mischief and I raise my voice to him he perks up his ears and then asks to be let out of the room and dashes away until things get back to being quiet again.

I tend to put my head on the desk. Or I get so frustrated that my b!tchy persona pops out and gets all quietly passive-aggressive in the hope - but not hope - that they hear and tone it down a tad.

I lived in the north east for five years and was in a long-term relationship with a Mackam; I understood everything! And it was all a load of pants.

The most irritating voices and accents are the loudest, they never stop talking and dont give others chances to talk.
