What a shocker. No one heard this one coming. The Fab Four produced so many hits with a fair number now considered classics and “A Hard Day’s Night” ranks among their biggest. The Beatles had made the movie and a title track was needed. John Lennon dashed out the song in a night and inspiration came from an offhand comment by Ringo Starr. The simple song is about a guy working hard to buy things to please his lover. Naturally, “A Hard Day’s Night” went gold going #1 in the US and UK. I have never heard a cover of “A Hard Day’s Night” yet it has been done by the Supremes, Quincy Jones, Billy Joel, Ramsey Lewis, Johnny Rivers, Ella Fitzgerald, Dionne Warwick, the Knack, Hoodoo Gurus, Sheryl Crow and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
