Has anyone else seen this? After getting into "juicing" (making juice from a juicer with fruis and vegetables) someone suggested to me I watch this DVD about this guy who totally turned his health around by going on this juice fast. He is Australian but spends the first 30 says of his juice fast in New York, travels around to different doctors to interview and also folks on the street to see what their diets consist of and have them try his juice creations. The last 30 days he travels across the US going westward. All the while he loses a tremendous amount of weight and he is taken off all of his prescription medications including one for a rare chronic autoimmune disease that he has been on for many years. The main guy, Joe Cross (who now sells ridiculously overpriced juicers) meets one truck driver in particular who is extremely overweight and shares his extremely rare autoimmune disease (I forget the name!) Joe eventually helps this guy, Phil, try a juice fast. Phil does it for 30 says and then transitions into a healthy eating and exercise type lifestyle and ends up losing 200 pounds! One Google search after watching this documentary had me exttemely disappointed in Phil, who apparently gained the 200 pounds back and is now struggling to lose it again. I am not sure where Joe Cross is and if he is still fit however. That kind of shows you, I guess, why fasting in general is not a long term solution. Although it was a really inspiring story until I Googled "where is Phil now..". Have you seen this documentary? What did you think?

I've heard about the documentary but I haven't watched it. Fasting isn't a good option for weight-loss because you will just gain it all back when you start eating real food. Juicing just doesn't sound delicious to me nor does it sound like something that will fill me up.

Juicing, as a main source of nutrients, is a bad idea. You are getting tons of sugar and carbs but nothing substantial like long lasting carbs (rice, wheat bread etc)

It is a good snack for me but definitely not a meal. I am enjoying making and drinking the juice but it doesnt replace any meal.

Haven't seen the documentary but I have heard about the juicing fast. Not really suitable for someone who is active. It is a quick fix for someone to lose weight and that's just about it. You are prone to get the weight back again if you go back to your unhealthy habits.

@maezee well, I do intermittent fasting. I just time my workouts close to my eating window so I can load up after my workouts.

That’s expected. If you want to lose weight go workout. I never believed in anything else

Diet is a huge component of it. It doesnt have to be complicated. Eat good, clean foods - fruits and vegetables and avoid the junk and the processed foods. And burn more calories than you eat. It is simple in theory but in practice it is difficult.

I like how it tastes! I have been trying to drink one glass per day just for the health benefits. I cant imagine it replacing food totally though.
