Update on my Mom

As I posted earlier, my mother fell and cracked a rib a couple of weeks ago. She bounced back very quickly but then developed a cold and chest cough. Though all reports say she is in good spirits (not from family members) she is refusing to take her antibiotics. They are liquid so there really is not excuse. She also refuses most food. She is not very cooperative with family members there so we are staying away but at this point we get the feeling she is ready to leave this world. It's not necessarily her call. My middle sister gets the brunt of my mother's grouchiness and uncooperativeness because my sister is pretty bossy and has worked in health care so comes off as a know-it-all. When I am with my mother I plead with her, don't boss her. My sister's comment today was that she hopes she doesn't treat her kids this way when she gets to be that age. So, we hope and pray and leave her in God's hands I guess. Picture is of my mother on her 90th birthday. She is currently 93.

Just leave what happens to your mom in God's Hands since He knows what is best for all of us.

My 96 year old aunt sometimes refuses dinner, but only because she doesn't burn enough calories sitting in her chair or lying in bed. She says the home feeds them too well.

When I was looking after my mother, for lunch that day they brought her a bowl of soup (carrot I think it was), a half a sandwich (tomato and cheese), a very small handful of potato chips (like 10), a glass of milk and a glass of apple juice, and a bowl of ice cream. All she ate was the ice cream. I tried the soup but didn't like it. I ate the sandwich and chips.

Hope your mom is okay. My 91 year old father passed away 9 days ago. Your mom might want to see her family....short visits though....staying away because she's grouchy might not be the wisest course...you'd be grouchy to if you were ill.

Sad to say but the elderly can be very cantankerous
