On-line Friends Can Often Be Better Than Real-Life Friends

If anyone has had a on-line presence for any length of time, one will often develop friendships with on-line friends that I find are better than those people I know in "real life". Most often the case is that one is in touch/contact with on-line friends on practically a daily basis, more so than "real life" friends. These on-line friends could be people you have met here on MyLot or of course over at Facebook. Over the course of time not only would I become friends with people here on MyLot but then I would find them over at Facebook. However, one of the saddest aspects is the shock, and yes, it is a shock when you discover that some of those on-line friends have passed on. One friend from MyLot named KrazyKlingnon, and as you can guess was a Star Trek fan I managed to find over at Facebook. He didn't post much over at Facebook, but would often post something like a music video he wanted to share or sometimes, since he knew I loved cats would simply post "Meow". You can imagine my shock when I went to his profile one day and found out he had passed on...he was only 48. And just earlier this month yet another "shock". I had developed a friendship with Angelwhispers here on MyLot, and yes, found her on Facebook. She too didn't post often over there, but one day went to her profile to find out that she too had passed away. Do you find that you develop better friendships with on-line friends than "real life" ones? I wish that the majority of these friends weren't so far away from me since there would be little chance of my ever meeting them in person. I include this meme in honor you might say of my friends who have passed on and you may recognize what that line is from..a Star Trek movie

I don't know, I have made connections with other Filipino mylotters over the years. But some how I remained seclusive and prevent myself from gathering with friends after the last meet up. Now, I don't talk to them much anymore since they got themselves involved in different part of their lives.

I have found most of my Mylot friends on Facebook and it is nice to have them there. I do have some online friends I have had for years but have never met face to face.

Yes, I have found that I am really good friends with some of my online friends.. more so than the Live Friends... I of course have a few that I talk to often that I met here on MyLot and some on Facebook.. one of them is a VERY VERY GOOD FRIEND.. we exchange Christmas gifts and talk almost daily. I don't do that with my real friends or family. I had one friend who I met online actually from another fly by night site that never really earned us any money.. but we then moved over to Facebook and I found out she passed last year.. it was truly heartbreaking!

I have the same sentiments. I do think that I am closer to mylotters than offline friends.

I used to be on mylot a lot. And have developed several friendship that have lasted years. I have even met many of them in person. What a wonderful way to find friends with the same interests and though we have different opinions we can develop a deep bond.

I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about them. Allen and I are friends on twitter and Instagram and we have been friends here in mylot for several years already.

Yes, I have found that there are those online that a better friends that people I know offline. I have few friends off line. Some keep in touch with and others do not see much.

I have made a ton of friends online that I'd love to meet. Maybe one day!
