I left her in the closet

She hates it there. She tells me she feels suffocated in the small space. She doesn't call out though, she doesn't make a sound except for that of her breathing. She has been in there for hours. She is bound to be terrified. Wondering what will happen to her. Hoping there is a way she will survive this. She is a liability though. She knows too much. I can't let anyone find out. I know what I did was wrong, but I regret doing it. Isn't that penance enough? ---- I didn't lock anyone in a closet, and I certainly didn't leave them there for hours. Well not literally atleast. There is a girl in a closet, and she has been stuck in there. It's been weeks though, and not just hours. You see I am not exactly sure how she feels. I know shes terrified, but I am not sure who she's terrified of yet. Is it her older brother? Is it a school teacher or one of her father's friends? Does she even know the person? These are things I need answers to before I can let her out of the closet. She hasn't told me these things yet though, and so in the closet she will stay. **If I have not made it abundantly clear, I am talking about something I am in the process of writing. The last thing I wrote was of a girl in a closet, but then I haven't gone back to it yet.**

@ScribbledAdNauseum It was probably a bit of both. I remember it so well. I also related to her - she was just 3 months younger than I was at the time.

The horrible things she must have gone through. From the blurb I just read, it sounds as if she suffered from stockholm syndrome or merely did what she had to do to survive.

@ElicBxn I am sure it terrified many young girls just making it out on their own.

I do need to listen to her, but she hasn't done much talking either. I guess I have been too busy to listen.

Well, a girl stuck in a closed for weeks would not be scared anymore, no food, no water... no girl anymore.

@LadyDuck Definitely! Morals aside, it wouldn't pay very well.

Well her physical body would be there, but not her soul... Good thing I am not in the business of locking anyone in the closet.

I am sitting here somewhat amused and confused. You are the second one who has said they can't wait to find out what happens but this isn't the story. I am working on it though, but have the intention of publishing it via KDP (kindle).

That's too long to be stuck in a closet. You better figure out what to do before she croaks!

I am thinking she will find her own way out of the closet soon. I read a little side blurb of a story once, an alternate to a story an author I had written. The side blurb was of a girl who found herself in the crawl space or small cupboard of an old house. I may draw inspiration from that.

This is interesting! I think you should throw in a really big twist, like push the mystery of the being locked in the closet even further!

I could do that. I was thinking of letting her out of the closet soon, but I could let her out only to throw her back in.. I have a few ideas.
