My husband is air frying SPAM

Oh boy. He just emerged from the office and he is hungry. He didn't like any of the leftover options in the fridge so he went to the cabinet for one of his cans of SPAM. He was going to fry it up in the trusty cast iron skillet when he spied the new air fryer sitting on the counter. He even found instructions for how to do this: 195 degrees for 8 minutes. Apparently many people have already thought up such an insane thing. His plan is to eat it in a tortilla with either the shredded mozzarella or queso fresco that I have in the fridge. OMG the SPAM smells so nasty. I could puke.

I grew up eating Spam occasionally (my parents kept it in their food storage pantry) and don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I think the last time I had it was a few years ago when we made Spam fried rice for breakfast while camping. I can't imagine what it's like in the air fryer though.

@NJChicaa Now that I think about it, we didn't even have Spam, but a similar brand called Treet. I think the cans were slightly bigger. I wonder if the company is still around?

@NJChicaa The low fat SPAM isn't quite as noxious, but I still won't touch the stuff.

I remember eating spam when I was a kid. I stopped eating meat when I was 7 though and the last time I saw spam it looked disgusting. The photo you posted looks pretty good though surprisingly.

Ewww I don't think I'd want to smell SPAM either cooking in the air fryer or a skillet. Hope your hubby enjoyed his creation

Well personally I don't know if I would like it this way but I really always loved SPAM and used it in many different casseroles but since I have been in Latvia I have not had it. I once tried to order some online and they said not to Latvia. Will just have to wait until I get to the states. Did your hubby enjoy it?

I'll probably be the only one to say this, but.....I LIKE SPAM! I don't want it air-fried/baked, but I do like it fried in oil once in a while on white bread with mayo, tomatoes, and lettuce.
