The Adult Coloring Trend

United States

With adult coloring books becoming such a huge trend these days, I feel like I missed out on something I could have started myself when I was teenager. I will be 52 next month, but when I was in my early teens, I use to create these wild and crazy abstract art that has no rhyme or reason. I enjoyed doing them. Now my work is often questioned because of this adult coloring trend just because I don't have a book published. Basically I still enjoy creating and coloring my own work. This is is a picture of one of my works that I just finished drawing before adding color. I only use permanent markers for all my work because it is easier for my hands since I also have osteoarthritis and pencils require too much pressure in order to get the right shade of color. That pressure is very painful for my hands. I love the ease and smoothness of markers. Maybe someday I will create my own book, but for now I like coloring my own creations more than I like coloring someone else's work.

I think it is a neat trend. I should get one for myself. I have only done computer ones.

@MistyckMoon Kindle has coloring apps. I am sure there are phone apps that probably feature coloring as well.

That is very interesting dear @MistyckMoon , could you post some pictures where you have already colored them after creating the designs? Thanks!

Sure,I would love to! I'll post one now so look for it. This one isn't colored yet but I have others that are. Because of arthritis in my hands. my lines are not as perfect as those from a book so you can tell that my work is original. :-) I wish mylot allowed to post more than one picture in a post. Let me see if I can hook before and after together somehow.

I used to have a friend in high school that made these as well. They do take a lot of patience. I love coloring them so have no problem with the coloring books. I see by yours that you are quite talented. Nice meeting you.
