Like a Rolling Stone

There are people who love Bob Dylan and his songs and those who don’t. I don’t like all of his songs but I do like plenty and one of them is the best song of 1965 “Like a Rolling Stone”. American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan wrote this song in June 1965 after he returned from touring England. The song had four verses and a chorus and became part of the album Highway 61 Revisited. “Like a Rolling Stone” rose up to number two on the U.S. Billboard charts and became a hit all over the world. Rolling Stone magazine has the song at number one on their “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” list. This song has had many cover versions among them by Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones among others. In an auction held in 2014 Dylan’s handwritten lyrics to this song brought in $2 million which is a world record for a popular music manuscript. The musical sound to “Like a Rolling Stone” has been looked at as being revolutionary because it features a combination of electric guitar and organ chords put all together with Dylan’s voice.

My favorite of all time! I adored him in his day. A sis in law of ours went to school with him and hung out as his home.

That is interesting. Too bad they didn't become lifelong friends perhaps she too might have discovered a songwriting talent and they could have collaborated but at least the memories are awesome @DianneN

I do like Dylan, and this song - some of his later work is incoherent babble but this was Dylan at his peak

@RasmaSandra Someone reckoned he had so much money he didn't need to tour but he didn't really know what else to do. Sometimes they have few true friends and haven't really developed any hobbies and they probably enjoy the music and the adulation so they decide to go on tour again.

In high school, I wrote my final paper for a class called American Studies on Bob Dylan. It was very interesting.
