Watching the Food Network or other cooking shows certainly do make you hungry and wish you had whatever they are making to eat for dinner!
So when I saw them making Empanadas, it reminded me of a great little hand pie I used to buy at a specialty shop called a Jamaican Patty.
It is like an empanada but with a curried ground beef filling and if you like spicey---it's delicious. But of course, many of you already tried one.
Well we tried a recipe but only made the filling from scratch and used puff pastry to make the half-moon pie and it really turned out! Now I will try them again with different variations as I'm thinking they would make a great treat as an appetizer as well! Samosas, empanadas and Jamaican Patties are all a fun treat for yourself or company. Think I'll keep most of them for myself-----lol! Pixabay free image

Thjs recipe has both curry and a hot pepper in it chopped up--- but is not overly hot.

@shubhu3 You can buy the pastry also if you don't want to have to make it.

I really love pasties, of the Cornish variety which are not so different from empanadas. I like sweet empanadas better personally but that does sound very good.

I thought about that- I know about empanadas but am not sure what the difference would be? I think they do have meat but are not hot with curry flavour like a Jamaican Patty? Should look it up!

@MarymargII Puff pastry has a lot of butter in it, the texture is different.

That's how I made them- with both curry and a half hot chili pepper- we didn't find this particular pastry too rich. Delicious!

@LadyDuck Yes but this one is not so rich- it's one I purchased before so we thought it went well. There is a recipe for the pie itself also and when I get to it, I will try it out later as the filling was very good.

@DianneN They turned out good but could use a bit more curry flavour I thought to be more authentic. Will try more later.

Yes very tasty and spicy too. We have a particular restaurant here that serves it up well.
