Did You Say YES!

When my husband proposed to me it was at Christmas and he made me do a scavenger hunt. He had gift boxes all over the house and the last one led me to the tree where he had my ring in a box nestled in the branches. It was so creative and so fun and then he proposed to me in front of his son and my children. They were all so happy as we had been together for 4 yrs and I was shocked because I really had not expected it at all. How did your significant other propose to you, were you excited, was it simple but loving or did they go about it in a huge way?

Same as @BelleStarr my husband never formally proposed. We worked together, we were happy to be together and one evening when we were driving me to my parents house he said "would you like to merry me, so we can stay all the time together?". We wanted to get married as soon as possible to live together, I was not surprised.

My hubs never formally proposed, we were young 19 and 16, he said let's go to the jewelry store, it was April 1 I thought he was joking but we stopped and I picked a ring I liked and he bought it for me, that was it. We had already known we would be marrying when I graduated from high school.

Wow, and you have been married all these years, that is great. You were so young too and you stayed together. I would have thought the same thing on April 1 if my husband had done that. Its nice that they give us days to remember it.

I expected it when my husband proposed to me. He hid the ring box in the Christmas tree branches and I could not find it so he had to get it out for me. I was thrilled. I love your story or how your husband asked you.

Awww - that's so neat ! Hubby proposed to me on my birthday. We had no particular plans for that evening - and I was on the computer. He told me to turn around (when I was in the computer chair), but I was in the middle of something so I shooed him away for the moment. Then he said, no - turn around . . . and then he proposed . We had been together for about 15 years already . . . I knew eventually we would get married, but I didn't expect that we would be engaged on that particular day!

Yes, it was nice and the kids were so happy. They are the ones that married us, my daughter wrote up cards for each of the 3 boys to read and they all took turns reading their parts of the ceremony and married us.

When my husband proposed he didn't give me a ring. He just told me and I said yes, Then, he brought his parents to our house and bring foods with them, and told my parents that we want to get married. After some months we got married.

I guess you don't always need a ring if your happy and it is what you want. It was nice that they brought food over and asked your parents. I have friends from the Philippines here and they always have lots of food when I visit and are always happy. How long have you been married now?

Judy, that is such a nice thing for him to say, most men don't do that now days. Mine has taken mine as his as well and we have 12 grandchildren that are both of ours now. Its nice when they can form to your family and make it work.

That's awesome. My X, just asked if I would shack up with him for life. I said yes, then no, and then yes again in the course of three days. I should have stuck with no. Though I wouldn't have the children I have now. The only good thing to come from my marriage. Sorry to make this a downer.

@cintol I agree. My brother passed before my parents and it was a day I never want to see again. My dad was white with the news, and my mother, who had Alzheimer's, knew that was her son, and the lost look on her face was horrible to see. My parents have since passed.

Your husband chose a very creative and funny way of proposing you. It must have been a perfect moment! I am not proposed yet, but I have 3 proposal rings, because my boyfriend buys me a new amazing ring every year for my birthday. We are not a romantic couple, but I told him that I want a really romantic proposal when he will do it officially.

@anikoonline That is a sweet thing to have him do, that is respectful to ask your mom first. I hope she gives her permission so the two of you can be married. I hope it happens, you sound like such a cute couple.

@cintol Yes, he is really sweet. When we started our relationship, I told him that I am not interested in getting married, but I want to have a beautiful ring. Now I have three rings. I think he took seriously what I said. I guess that he will officially propose me this year and we can have a wedding next year. We talk about this a lot and we agreed that it will happen in a traditional way. In my country a boyfriend has to ask first the parents to let their daughter marry him. We agreed that he will ask my mom and then he can propose me.

It was a mutual thing. We bought the rings together but he did do the down on one knee proposal thing in his apartment. No bells and whistles but we have been married over 31 years.

My wife and I had a bit of an argument. I did not have the ring yet, just the certificate. I presented it to her. She said yes. And the rest is history.

Ahhhh, that was sweet even without the ring, whats most important are the feelings and sincerity that come with it. She was a lucky woman and looks like you were pretty lucky as well.
