It's time for another induction into the MyLot Music Hall of Fame, where we celebrate bands and artists that regularly appear in discussions of those of us that write about music. Today's entry, Blondie, is one of those bands. Blondie has shown up in multiple user's countdowns, including an entire series by @JohnRoberts dedicated entirely to them. Blondie was formed by vocalist Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein in New York City in 1977, and despite a 15 year hiatus, is still going strong. That's right: Debbie is in her 70's and still rocking it! Blondie came roaring out of New York's legendary CBGB scene, which also spawned the Ramones and Talking Heads. Originally known as a new wave/punk band, Blondie successfully integrated disco, reggae, and even hip hop into their sound. Members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Blondie has sold over 40 million records worldwide, and are Juno Award (the Canadian equivalent to the Grammy's) winners as well. And, coolest of all, the band was awarded New Musical Express Magazine's Godlike Genius Award! Look forward to seeing Blondie show up in future MyLot music discussions. We haven't seen the last of them. (One way or another, info verified by Wikipedia)

Back then, I only knew of Blondie, but then I heard "Rapture" and instantly loved that (I remember having a 45 of it). Wow, she's in her 70s now?!

@teamfreak16 yes, their more recent hits are just as great as their early classics - still think Atomic is their best number

It's sad when bands come to that. Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook from Joy Division/New Order have been fighting like school kids for a few years now.

I used to love Blondie. Debbie Harry seemed outrageous at the time. She was beautiful and moody looking and she would rip big holes in her tights while she was performing which as teenage girls we found amazing! Not sure why!

Never heard of them, either.
Denis, de enige nummer 1 hit van Blondie in Nederland. Het was de eerste hit van Blondie. Dit gebeurde in het prille begin van 1978. Er volgden nog meer hits...

Very nice write up! The band was certainly influential in the new wave/punk success. I guess you could "Call Me" a little biased
