Update on my puppies visit to the vet

When I took the puppy for a walk a week ago or so and she was screaming and clawing at me in fear of the people we passed it made me very worried how she would react at the vets. I carried her into the office and she was shaking like the chihuahua breeds do. (She’s a mix of chihuahua, jack Russell and Pekingese on the mother’s side we do not know the father). The vet let her smell her scent by putting her glasses out for her to sniff. She spoke to her sweetly and calmly. She bent down to smell her ears and I was nervous my puppy would bite her although she’s never done that to anyone. She was a perfect angel though! The vet emptied her anal glands and she did cry a little over there but it was needed. She told me to give her a tablespoon on canned pumpkin every day to help her empty them on her own when she goes to the bathroom. She barely even flinched while given her rabies shot and 5 way booster. The vet listened to her heart to make sure she doesn’t have a murmur which she said is very important before fixing her. She checked her temperature as well. The fee for all that was $86. I expected less from what she had said on the phone but it still was low compared to other vets I’ve taken my animals to. I put her in the van while I paid and set up her next appointment. When I came out she had pooped in the back of the van lol. I expected that honestly after she had her anal glands expressed and her temperature checked. I stopped down the road to find a quick geocache and she wanted to get out. After finding the tiny magnetic cache on a road sign she was full of energy so we went for a long walk down the road to a pond and back. The photo is one I took when we reached the ice covered pond. It was a smart idea on the puppies part to want to go for a walk since it was so nice out and today we have gotten a lot of snow.

I take the puppy out to go the bathroom but if it's very cold I won't stay out long. The snow was as tall as my boots out there but we went for a walk around my property. She loved hopping around in the snow.

@LadyDuck my one cat years ago hated the vet. The vet had to put on long leather gloves to pull him out of the carrier.

@shaggin It is important that the puppy feels safe, for many to go to the vet is traumatic.

@shaggin Sometimes they seem to know when someone is trying to help them and they need to be on their best behaviour.

$86 isn't bad at all for all that. Here it probably wouldve been about $200. Since its $70 and $90 here just for two different shots for cats. Ridiculous. Ugh. The puppy sounds good though, so yay! Too bad for the van though lol

The shot she gave and charged $25 I can buy for $10 at the tractor supply store and give her myself. Her first dose my boyfriend picked it up for me and did it. But yes her prices compared to other vets I've gone to was much lower. I'm thankful to have one so close by and who doesn't charge a fortune. Plus the puppy was not scared of her so that was a huge relief for me.

Yes for sure! It was more then she quoted but still so much cheaper then any vet I have been to. I am blessed to have her nearby. Seeing my puppy was not fearful of her like she is some people was a huge relief as well.

Some Vets attract animals and not repel.like ours does. Preiti is very comfortable with him. She even wags her tail full speed when she sees him. Happy that your little one is under a good Vet.

Can't be mad at her for it though what the vet did must have simulated the area so she had to go and since I wasn't in there she couldn't tell me she had to go. It was a stinky ride home but wasn't to hard to clean up thankfully.
