Do you love banana creme pie? I don't have it often but when I do that pie never dissapoints! Well, enjoy gang because March 2nd is National Banana Cream Pie Day. Banana creme pie was concoted from the traditional and popular custard pie recipe. With a few modifications this yummy pie has been around in recipe books since the 19th Century. SOME WIKIPEDIA FACTS The banana cream pie was ranked the number one favorite dessert among the soldiers of the United States Armed Services in the 1950s. Filled with a rich custard or pudding that is made from milk, cream, sugar, wheat flour, and eggs, it comes in many different flavors. One feature of almost all cream pies is a whipped cream topping. The custard filling is related to crème patissière, a key component of French cakes. So, why not spend a little time in your kitchen whipping up a delicious banana cream pie to share with your family and friends. Or buy a frozen store kind like Sara Lee's and enjoy the health benefits. Afterall, bananas are a great source of potassium. Source- nationalcalendarday.com Photo- google images/allrecipes.com

Well happy banana cream pie day! I'll just have the banana though. Got to watch my calories and sugar intake, plus watch my salt intake as well. Not like when I was younger it didn't matter what I ate. Long for those days again. At least I got memories of it.

I use to eat whatever was set in front of me, those days were tremendous! Now, I have to watch out for sugar, sodium, and gluten:( Nope, this isn't fun at all @oahuwriter

@oahuwriter I've learned how to bake sweet breads, with applesauce, bananas, or raisins. Then, I add a little bit of splenda sweetener and chopped walnuts. It's very good, even my husband loves it!

@kobesbuddy Me too except gluten, so far. You know when we were young it didn't matter what we ate. I'm a candy eater too and love my chocolate cake, thus I gravitate towards a slice or two of dream cake, but even just a slice and my sugar goes way up! It's so disappointing when you've cut down so much and still can't eat even one slice of cake!! But we got to try to eat better. I won't just eat veggies though. St. Patrick's Day is coming. I'm going to get myself a plate lunch of fresh corn beef for buying is too expensive. It's just 5.99 a mini plate which comes with one side. Guess brown rice and fresh made corn beef is my treat for this month. Take care! I look for sugar free baked goods all the time. Some taste like saw dust.

@dgobucks226 There are many recipes that I have for banana. The famous "banana split" is something I like, banana bread, banana beignets, banana in brown sugar and rum, banana ice cream, banana smoothie, banana pancake. I have plenty of ideas how to prepare bananas, but banana cream pie is too sweet.

@LadyDuck I would think the banana in brown sugar and rum would be on the sweet side. I like banana bread too!

Never tried that... The closest here might be Banoffee pie. Cheesecake, preferably baked, is my weakness.

@dgobucks226 Baked vanilla is my favourite - no need for all these fancy colours or flavours...

Oh, dear. A bunch of people in this house will be disappointed that they missed Banana Cream Pie Day, especially since someone brought home a vegan pumpkin pie (made with silken tofu) that didn't go over very well.
