When we were students we used to have schools which were either run by the government of India or were run on government grants. There were very few Private Schools then.
Same thing applied to the colleges also. There used to professional colleges like Medical Colleges, Dental Colleges, Veterinary Colleges, and Engineering Colleges etc. were all used to run by either Central government or State government.
The fee used to be very affordable and the merit students used to get Scholarships from the government of India then.
Because of limited number of Professional colleges only the deserving candidates who used to obtain good marks in the qualifying exams used to get admission in these colleges.
But the scenario is different today. We have private schools, colleges and Universities mushroomed everywhere in the country. Because of this irrespective of the actual caliber of the students the students who can afford to pay hefty amount are admitted to various professional courses and are getting degrees and post graduate degrees.
Today if parents have money they can get seat for their ward in any field of their choice even if the student is average in studies!
Government of India is granting permission to Private Schools, private colleges and private Universities every year because of which these institutions are in existence a dime a dozen!
Don’t you feel in India today Education has become a business and the standard of education is going down because of these private institutions which lack basic facilities to teach despite charging hefty fees?
Your Opinion will be highly appreciated! Thanks!

That is very true dear @maezee, things were not bad a couple of decades back! Then we never had these private Institutions and Government Institutions were very good and were offering education at a nominal price! But today things have become very expensive and it is practically impossible for a economically weak person to cope up with this situation , which is very sad! Thanks!

@AKRao24 I wonder if these institutions still offer scholarships- if not, many good students from EWS sections might be losing out.

Yes, I know from India students are going there to get foreign degree which helps them on settle there or in other western countries dear @JudyEv! People with lot of money can only afford this thing....the intelligent and hardworking students hardly get opportunity to get such environment which is really frustrating! Thanks!

@JudyEv countries like Denmark have free education, but their population is less and per capita income is high. However, we can't have it everywhere.
However, education must be affordable, otherwise, many deserving students lose out.

I know about your country and I can say that yes, your situation is terrible! For that money which parents spend on their child's educations, they could buy him/her a flat!
I have already mentioned in myLot that I finished school, college, and university for free in Russia.

That is so true dear @MashaVickina ! This situation has developed since last few decades...before that the picture was something very different! i have done my complete education from Government aided Institutions and my parents had to spend very nominal amount for that. I used to get merit Scholarship from the College during my Under garaduation and Post graduation program! But the things have changed drastically today! Thanks!

Yes, in earlier days, things were more in order. However, change has to come, and we need to be ready for changes.
Having said that, I feel that no doubt the education has been commercialized. One reason for this is that we still feel that only a few subjects will get us good careers and a "certain" status while others will not lead us anywhere.
This has to change- there has to be more variety. Also, in many Government aided universities, fees have been artificially kept low due to student unions' pressure, political agendas, and such places have not kept pace with times in teaching methods and quality of education as well.
Some private institutions are good, but again these are very costly.
There is no easy answer but we need to diversify, and more students have to be encouraged to join sports, other hobbies as their careers.

I think, every (private) school in this world, the main objective is to make money and education is its front is EDUCATION. Many want quality education and private institutions use that platform to entice people to get education but for a hefty price. Of course, people with money can afford that quality education and that means more money for the private institution. As they say, money makes wonder. On the other hand, people who are indeed smart but unable to pay for that quality education, remain just that, a NOBODY. That is why student loans were created. This is to "assist" students who are smart but cannot afford to pay. And yet again, this is money making in the long run, making those students to pay for the rest of their lives for that quality education. Loans are synonymous to interests that come from the debt. More money, more fun.

In the name of quality exam the private Institutions are cheating the people in two ways,
One is by charging hefty fees which again varies from Institution to institution for the same Degree and secondly instead of providing quality education they are not even providing good staff and good labs for the students as providing these two things would require them to spend a lot of money.
Undoubtedly the deserved poor students are missing the chance of education while rich dullards are purchasing thr degrees, thus getting the standard of education further down in the name of quality education! Thanks @mlgen1037 !

@AKRao24 I agree. You're welcome. That is one of the sad realities we are facing today. Education is supposed to be for all, regardless of your social status. But what some greedy people do is have the rich afford the quality education so they can literally control those below them and make those people ignorant. Sad, but true.
