A Woman of Integrity

Our daughter and her family ended her visit with us this weekend and I am gradually getting back into the stream of things, although it will take me a few days to actually feel caught up. One statement our son-in-law made during their visit, made me feel especially good. He and our 35 year-old daughter have been married for ten years. A few days ago he said, "I want you to know that you have raised a daughter with real integrity. She never lies. I dated girls before I knew her who would lie, sometimes about things which weren't even important, but your daughter never lies." I was walking on water after he said that! It especially warmed my heart because they have been married ten years and he obviously both loves and respects her, still. We had a wonderful visit with them and their two little boys. We are going to miss them!

How wonderful to say to you what he felt about your daughter. I am so glad, you must be proud of her and of yourself of course. My mother in law used to tell me that she could have not made herself a better wife for her son. That was the best compliment I ever received.

@LadyDuck - That is wonderful that your mother-in-law felt that way about you. My father-in-law used to tell my husband that he was lucky to have found me. I remembered him saying that in front of me and how much I appreciated it, so I said the same thing to my son-in-law a day or so after he told me that my daughter had integrity. I hope he appreciates it as much as I loved hearing my father-in-law say it.

@LadyDuck - I agree that it is very important to know our in-laws appreciate us. I try to say nice things to all our son-in-laws.

What a lovely thing to hear about your daughter and how nice of your son-in-law to come out and say it aloud to you both.

@JudyEv - I actually felt tears well up when it said it. I can't think of a better thing for a son-in-law to say about one of my daughters.

A woman of integrity like we have in the White House ... Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I hate that people think she has ever lied! Here is a list of "all" the statements people have 'turned into lies.' http://www.politifact.com/personalities/sarah-huckabee-sanders/statements/byruling/false/ I'll probably defend them one-by-one later. But your in-law's claim that your daughter "never lies" ... it reminds me of the line from JCSS: "But what is truth? Is truth 'unchanging law?' We both have truths; Are mine the same as yours? (CRU-CI-FY HIM! CRU-CI-FY HIM!)" 'Is truth "unchanging law"?' What I think he meant by 'never lies' is "she never tells a truth that she doesn't know to be true."

@JamesHxstatic - Yes, it is tucked away at the end of a walkway, overlooking the beach. I love all these little hidden spots in Laguna Beach. I always feel like an explorer when I go down a new street. I was really touched when my son-in-law said that to me. Great guy!
