Who is in charge of timing, or time, God or the Devil?

Who is it that deals us our cards in our life? God, or the Devil?

I ask this question because of certain coincidental occurrences in my life, that have becoming very annoying for me over time. For example, I work from home, and invariably this type of thing happens to me. I will have no clients all day, then just as I am about to close up for the day, the home phone rings, my mobile phone also rings, I get an email, and the doorbell also chimes, with someone there, all at the same time. Who is controlling the timing of these events then, God, or the Devil. Sometimes, it seems like a certain type of telepathy is going on which might be responsible here though. Last night, I was in the middle of texting someone about something, that I had been waiting all day for them to contact me about. Just then, at that exact time, I received a text from this very person about the matter in hand. I did not then have to send my text, after all. Coincidence, telepathy, or is there some other force controlling the outplaying of these events?? Here is another example: John works for a real estate company, collecting rents from clients for them. Each day, at 7.30 pm, he has to send an email to his head office, listing all of the rents, collected by him, for that day. John also works partly from home in his doing of his job. Now, last night, John has just finished preparing his detailed listing of the client's names, and the amounts received, together with the properties that they were paying the rent for, and the months covered by the payment made that day. Satisfied, after a tiring and very busy, frustratingly painful, day, John is pleased to finally finish his listing on time tonight. It was a long list that night. He had checked it over several times, to make sure, that it was all error free. John now places his finger on the email button on his computer. Just then, the very second, that he has just emailed it off, and his finger completes the push on the enter key, his doorbell chimes. It is another client, with a large back payment for outstanding rent. He has received a letter, apparently that he will be evicted tomorrow, if the rent is not marked as received today. Every client of John's knows John's schedule. They know that he sends his email at 7.30 each night. He has explained, and reminded them all of this constantly, both in word, and memo. This man didn't even telephone John to give John the courtesy to let John know that he would be coming around that night. Now, perhaps, if John had known that he was coming around, and expected to come that night, he might have been able to hold off sending his email for a window of around ten minutes, or so, at most. If it isn't sent on time, the person at the other end, always just assumes, that there was nothing coming from John for that particular day. A few times, in the past, John has redone his list when this happened before, and he had then sent off a revised list to his head office. Invariably, when he did this though, with more than one email floating around, (i.e. two copies of his list for that day) even if he had carefully explained what had happened, head office staff would mess things up, and always they would blame John for it. John then had decided never to change his listing again, once certified as correct for the day, and sent. Now, this client Albert, could have come two minutes earlier, and his money would have been included, for that day. Who then is responsible for this intricately connected timed event for it to play itself out exactly in this way. Surely, this time, it was the Devil. What do you think? I always blame it on Mercury Retrograde. The nine weeks in every year when bad timing rules. Everything goes awry and delays are unavoidable.

Yes, that might provide us with an answer, but here are my further thoughts on this. I think that, while there is some truth in astrology, it can, at times be just another trap, which can control us in these narrow walls of each divisional structure, or astrological sign. These lower worlds are the devils, says the Christian Bible, and authority has been given him, or at least not taken away from him, to allow him to test the mettle of all born into his kingdom, and this is why Jesus Christ said, when he was here on the Earth, that this was not his kingdom here. Love reaches us here still from God, but the way and timing of it, if we are not careful, can be trapped/captured in these pursuits of other guidance systems other than love, which can continue to keep us trapped by them in time, because they are all part of that karmic time system here. Only love remains outside of all time because God is that love undefined and undefinable, and remains so, that is, unless we come to him and take refuge in him, as our father. Or, in other words, we must, and we can only find our own real true self within God.

@Starmaiden I am not sure if I agree that time is only an illusion. Because if that was right, why do we die in our physical bodies? Our physical bodies must be time-based, but perhaps our inner self, or soul, is not. Eternity sits alone until we join it with our self, and so then we see that time only ever applies to created things, which must change, and move around in different forms, to give experiences to the unchanging eternalness of soul, that is, if it keeps itself aligned with the God force, or love.

@innertalks I dont believe time exists as anything tangible or "real". I believe time is an illusion created by the movement of the earth and solar system around us that we observe and measure for our own purposes. When someone is deep in thought or in a deep sleep, they have no sense of time. It can take a lifetime (we'll say 60 yrs) to create good memories, but when you remember those memories, say, of 30 yrs ago, those memories are retrieved instantaneously. It doesnt take 30 yrs to retrieve them, but it took 30 yrs to create them. All time is erased between the making of it and the living of it over again through your memories. Past, present and future are happening simultaneously...In The Moment. The 'illusion' of linear time we ourselves created to serve our purposes while in this 3D world, experiencing a separation from our All Loving Father. :-)

Well, it's said "It rains on the just and the unjust." It would seem there is something more at work at times, though. There's a lot we don't understand.

@innertalks Was that kind of a roundabout way of saying God is love and God is outside of our limitations/experience? You know... I went through a period where I was really exploring a lot of thoughts and ideas that correlated to the Bible. Some of it got way out there, some less so. In the end, I found myself out of communication with God because I had been looking at the objects rather than the source. I don't know how else to explain it, but Jesus is everything and if we concentrate on these questions of who does what and why this happens and that doesn't, we're just passing time - treading water. I think it was Festus who said to Paul that much learning had made him mad. I enjoy thinking about things and trying to figure out things, but I always come back to the source and know that whatever the answers to these mysteries, it's all in His hands in the end.

@peavey Thanks for your interesting perspective. Yes, the source is always greater than any of the questions, or even than any of the answers to the questions, that we might ever ask. "I have much more to say to you, but right now it would be more than you could understand.(or handle, or bear)" From Saint John's gospel, chapter 16, verse 12. This quote from Jesus Christ implies to me that at some stage, we will be ready to understand these things, but that there is a learning curve that each of is on, and it is different for every person, so we all must learn, in our own time, in our own way, the lessons that God wants us to learn, in order for us to each uniquely grow into the uniquely individual person God created us to be, and so live fully from love, through fully utilising too, the special gifts that he has given to us too. We all have such gifts, even as the parable of the talents tells us, but some have more than others, because they are at a different stage of growth than the other, I guess.

Yes, there still remains a lot that we don't understand, but we can do our best to try to grasp it, I guess, too. The Temptation of Jesus From Saint Luke's gospel, chapter four, verses 5 to 7. …Then the devil led Him up to a high place and showed Him (Jesus) in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. “I will give You authority over all these kingdoms and all their glory, he said. “For it has been relinquished to me, and I can give it to anyone I wish. So if You worship me, it will all be Yours.”… It also says in the Christian Bible that God's time is not our time. Whose time is our time then? Does the Devil control the timing of events in his world which he says has been given to him, and which he controls, by his own authority. I think that the life governed by love remains untimed, existing for all time eternally outside of time with God, and so also out of reach of the Devil's clutches, who does not know love at all. Any time that we step away from love and its path, time starts to apply to us then, and so then we are governed by karma, or the devil, whatever you might call it, the laws of cause and effect then come into play for us then. This law is largely irrelevant to God, as it never applies to him, and so this is why he remains outside of karmic time, and its law, so to speak.

I think it is more of "expect the unexpected" in our lives. We have to mostly react and there are always exceptions to the rule. Having been in the accounts and finance all my working life I have understood how my schedules are turned topsy turvy by others. When I finalise my accounts position and file my returns someone changes his details. Maybe we are just tested how we cope with the vicissitudes and fend off accusations that we are at fault. I politely inform the reality without blaming others! siva

Yes, good point siva. If we expect stuff to happen, in the way that we want it to happen, we will always be upset when things do not go according to our own plans. God's ways are not always our ways though, so yes, that is a good way for us to try to live our lives, to "expect and to accept the unexpected."

@Shiva49 Yes, that is a prayer that gives a lot of answers in such a short prayer. If we could all have that serenity, we would all live in peace.

@innertalks I find solace in the Serenity Prayer - siva : God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Oh, you could be right. It's just that the priest told us at our church last Sunday that when someone is a Christian, especially during Lent period, for example, the Devil gives us a lot more trouble, messing up our lives, and causing havoc like this, trying to get us to change over to his side, especially when we see that the so-called "bad" people sometimes do not have as many problems as we do. He told us that this was because someone already caught by the Devil, is not bothered so much by him anymore, (because they are already captured, he told us) but the one's still on God's side, get pestered time after time, and tested, for their strength in not becoming upset, annoyed, and thinking bad thoughts because of this, and so taking a step or two away from God by these actions.

@bela360 Yes, I also reacted a bit like that when he told us that too. At least I won't complain so much any more about my problems. It seems a reasonable enough explanation.
