Permanent my eye

I bought a pair of pants at a thrift store for very cheap. My friend pointed out a bleach mark on them. I didn't care because I knew they would fit without having to try them on and I figured I could just cover up the mark with a permanent marker. Which I did, and it looked okay. Then I washed them the other day. I pulled them out today, and the bleach mark was back. It definitely says "permanent marker" on what I used. If I had gotten a mark on a llight pair of pants, of course it would never come out. But here I WANTED it to stay, and it washed out. Just can't win.

It is a permanent marker, not a dye. It doesn't erase on paper, but it isn't going to stay on anything else other than paper. It won't stay on your skin, it won't stay on fabrics, it might stain them but it isn't a dye. Even dyes wash out after a while.

I have a pillowcase with a marker mark on it that I haven't been able to get out, even after ten years' worth of laundering.

@DesirousDreamer 66% rayon, 30% nylon, 4% spandex... I'll just have to keep coloring it in.

@BarBaraPrz If it is a silk or cotton material, yeah it would stain it. But most pants are not that material. If you don't like it, dye it or get a patch.

Lol doesn’t it just figure. Well keep putting marker on them every time you wear them!

Murphy's Law. Of course if you had gotten a mark on a light pair of paints it would not get off.

Guess you'll need to reapply the marker after each washing.

Just keep a permanent marker handy and touch them up each time! No such thing as completely permanent markers...We discovered this when one of my nieces decided to colour in the dog! It took a few baths but he eventually returned to his correct colour ,

I have had that issue too. It won't stay on when you wash the clothing.

Maybe it's only permanent on paper not cloth. :-)
