This is a photo of the little dog that is having a sleep-over at our house tonight. His name is Chester and, although he is very well-behaved, it is clear he would much rather be with his own folk. However he is only here for one night and by lunch time tomorrow his folks will have come for him.
He is a mix of breeds but has a nice, soft, medium-length coat. He likes being brushed so he’s had a good brush. He ate his tea nicely and when we go to bed shortly we’ll give him a treat and say ‘goodnight Chester’ which is the routine he’s used to. Then we don’t expect to hear from him till we get up in the morning. We’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Hopefully he is a good boy and doesn't interrupt your sleep

Never heard of any dog not whining for their owners when spending time elsewhere. I cannot imagine Preiti spending time elsewhere

Aww bless him. He does look a little sad but it's natural he misses his own family.

@JudyEv It's nice of you to take care of him. I bet he'll be excited when they come and get him

@sprite1950 He only lives a couple hundred yards down the hill and he sneaked off home about an hour before they were to pick him up. We knew it might happen but they're home now and all is well.

The muso has just emailed and there has been an accident on the highway so he will be later than he thought. Still in plenty of time for the concert which is good. I'm glad he was able to let us know or we would have been panicking.

@JudyEv I quite often house/pet sit for friends (I'm known locally as the Critter Sitter) and it is quite interesting to see the animals reactions to me. Some are really excited to see me come (dogs), others receive me with disdain (cats). One particular cat ignores me completely, but is in love with my shoes and spends a great deal of time ecstatically rolling on them.

How did he do overnight? We had our furniece spend a few nights with us when she was a puppy. Maggie was in a crate, and she whined all night long. Poor thing. We should have just let her come to bed with us.

@JudyEv I miss having a dog around the house. Hopefully one day we will be able to have one.
