City, Country, Mountains or Sea?

Let's take a little flight of fantasy ... You have just won the lottery, and now have enough money to live anywhere you want. Where will you choose? A fancy apartment in the heart of the city? A comfortable bungalow in the suburbs? A stunning beach-front mansion? A luxurious chalet in the mountains? A rambling homestead in the country? Or something else? I love the idea of living on a country property where you grow all your own fruit and veges, and have chickens and ducks and goats, maybe a few sheep and cows, and bees. I know that would be far too much work for me to take on (I have trouble just maintaining my garden) so if I won the lottery I would build a second house on my dream property and offer free accommodation to a young family in return for help running the place. Where would you choose to live?

A comfortable bungalow in the suburbs. Very quiet places.

If I won the lottery and had enough money to live wherever I wanted, I would divide the money up evenly and build moderately priced homes in the mountains, city, country and beach. I love all of those places, and would enjoy spending time in each area. The key to that would be not to live extravagantly, so that you can stretch your money and actually be able to afford to live in all those places!

I would prefer to live in a city at this age where I can easily get access to shopping Malls, hospitals and basic amenities as these things are very important at this age for us! We already lived on a farm for maore than some decades now...I am sure this change will make us happy! Thanks @lynnief !

@lynnief , Though I have a house like that , I hardly get a chance to go and stay there for few months as I am working as a Stud Vet and needed to stay on the farm! Thanks!

I think city or suburbs. I love the ocean but would be too afraid of hurricanes and the like.

Your plan sounds good to me. We've always been 'country people' although we were forced to live in the city for some years. Eventually we got back to a few acres in the country so we're happy now. Happier I guess as we were pretty happy wherever we were.

@lynnief One day this place will be too hard for us to manage but we're putting making any big decisions for the moment. It's a shame you had to move too.

For 12 years up to the middle of last year I lived in a friend's granny flat (attached to their house) on 7 acres. It wasn't a farm, just designated as "land for wildlife" but it was pretty idyllic. Unfortunately my friend's husband, who is getting on in years, had to go into full time care, and my friend couldn't keep up the maintenance on the property, so it was sold and I had to move. Now I'm in a nearby small town, still very "countryish."

After I win the lottery, I'd put aside some of that money for taxes, invest the rest have $5K every month to live on at least, so I'd like to buy a little house in town for I like walking to shops I can easily buy what I need, be near to hospitals and have the safety with pets and alarm systems. I'd hire a gardener to fill my small yard with flowers and nice green lawn and a place for my pets to romp around. I'd like to have cats and dogs for pets. I'd like a chauffeur and a car in my cottage to take me where I need to go whenever I want to go and go there in comfort. I'd hire maid service and never do housework too.I'd like to have a chance to travel too. I'd like to go to northern Europe and really walk where history has taken place.

I would not move from my home. We live in the country side, near the mountains. We have a garden and grow fruits and vegetables. The air is not polluted, this country is still pretty safe. I would keep the money to have a safe future.

I am a sentimental person. Right now I am trying hard to raise finances to make it back to my homeland the US. I was born and raised in NYC and that is much too expensive for me to return to now. My girlfriend from way back in the 7th grade and through high school has offered me an apartment in Florida and I will take it. If I won the lottery at this point I would return to NYC and live in the neighborhood I loved there and be happy as a clam.

I will still choose the city. though i love the relaxing, stillness and quiet life in the province or countryside, still i want to spend most of my time in a beautiful house in the city...

I want to be in the country side with a small house near the water. And where everything I need is there.
