Hi Mylotters. I'm in search of a song. It would thrill my dad if I could find it. I know there are a lot very knowledgeable music folks here including but not limited to: @teamfreak16 , @FourWalls , and @dgobucks226 - and I know countless others that I'm leaving out. Alright, so dad said that the song perfectly describes his relationship with his sister. That being that the 2 don't get along whatsoever. He doesn't remember many of the words other than he says part of it went "back in '63". He says the artist might be Randy Newman or someone who sounds similar to him. He says he thinks the song was popular in the late 60s up to 1970, and he says it was real popular, played on the radio. Internet searches haven't given me anything. SO there is your mission if you choose to accept it... :-) Here's a different Randy Newman song.
Randy Newman's "It's a Jungle out There," from his 2017 album, Dark Matter. Get the album today: http://smarturl.it/darkmatter.all

The late 60s rules out Randy Newman. His first album wasn’t released until 1970, and the only popular song he recorded was “Short People” in 1977. Honestly, the first song that popped into my mind was Andrew Gold’s “Lonely Boy,” but that’s also mid-late 70s...and that said 53, not 63. Let me get the Whitburn out....

Could be the one. Kind of a silly song. But I like the "rhythm ambiguities."

I take it it's not Frankie Valli. I'm drawing a total blank so far.

That's what came to mind with the "back in 63" line. It was very popular but it's a totally different relationship.

Here's a guess since he didn't get along with her. Can he give us a bit more information? :
America's 1975 hit "Sister Golden Hair", enjoy.

Can he not hum the tune? Like the rest "back in 63" just makes think of Frankie Valli. Randy Newman has done some great songs. I particularly like Short People.

Not much... he didn't remember the melody too well. "Lonely at the top" cool too from Newman

If it was '68 to '70, would it have been on"pop" radio, like WLS out of Chicago?

The first half of the song applies, but it's from the 90's. Maybe he can adopt it!
