Our concert is over - only the clean-up to do

We were waiting for our musician to arrive to play at our house concert when he emailed to say he’d been caught up in traffic due to an accident. Thanks heavens for mobile phones as at least we knew he was still coming. This turned into one of the most laid-back concerts we’ve ever held. There was only one musician whereas sometimes we’ve had to accommodate and cater for up to six band members. Last concert we provided beds for six friends as well as two musicians. We did up picnic plates for our friends as well. This time there is just the musician staying. We won’t know ourselves with so little to do. Now the concert is over and there is just the packing up to do – after we’ve had a cooked breakfast with the musician. The evening went well although the weather turned really cold – by our standards. I always add that now as ‘cold’ last night was about 10C (50F). I took down a bundle of rugs and blankets and people who hadn’t come prepared for the cold snapped them up. The raffle also raised some money which will be used to buy children’s clothes for Vince to take to Nepal in October. The musician donated two CDs to the raffle which was good of him. Now it’s back to ‘normal’. How is everyone? The photo is of the pad for the Music Shack with one of our kangaroos checking out the floor. Luckily the cement had set by the time she 'walked' on it.

Glad to know that the concert went well. Hope you raised enough money to buy clothes to be donated by your husband in Nepal.

He can only take a suitcase full but we have enough money for that so that's good.

Wouldn't it have been nice though to have had kangaroo paw prints in the cement?

No, not really but there are couple that will stay put while you go about whatever it is you are doing. You can't walk up to them though.

I´m glad that everything went fine in spite of the delay. I can understand that cold: for me 10°C is quite cold too. The picture is awesome!

Thanks for the kind words. It would be easy to meet us - save up your pennies and head for Western Australia. It would be so nice to meet some of the people I talk to most days.

I'm glad your concert turned out nice, even with one musician showing up. The money will be donated to a worthy cause, that's for sure! Little kangaroo would have left some permanent foot prints, had your cement not been completely set Did your friend show up, who's allergic to the cold?

I would have loved paw prints in the cement. Yes, our friend turned up. She was dressed as she does for the football - jumpers, two hats, two scarves - and I brought down a quilt from the house as well - which she used. That was really my one worry for the night.

It's a shame the cement wasn't still wet and she could have left her footprints in the floor. That would have been a very cool thing to have.

Thanks. This one was a real breeze although mostly they are not too much of a hassle. Feeding people is sometimes the biggest headache. Sometimes the musos don't want to eat before they perform so you have to provide something a bit substantial afterwards. But if you have other guests staying they need a meal beforehand. But we've got better at it as we've gone along.
