A long morning.Had a blood transfusion. Awhile back I done a post on self driving cars. Thinking that is a great idea. For the seniors as they get older. Well my thinking is done. Now I am not sure. Have you heard the latest news? A woman struck, killed by self driving Uber vehicle. This was in Arizona. The halts the testing. They are investigating who is at faultThe car was in self driving mode, but they had a backup operator behind the wheels. This is sort of weird. I do not have all detail.but I guess my post was not on target .

So sad for the woman involved! I don't agree with self driving cars and reckon this was an accident waiting to happen!

@amadeo It's a bit of both I reckon! The operator either distracted due to feeling no real need to pay attention or using a phone etc! I've watched how disengaged people become using increasingly automated machinery! They'll watch it like a hawk the first few days then as they gain trust in it they take their minds elsewhere! I'm guessing the same goes for self driving cars!

I heard this. It's very worrying because I've always been in support of self driving cars but maybe I'll have to have a rethink.

@amadeo l thought they were supposed to cut the accident rate by wiping out human error.

I saw this too on the news. I can't understand why the 'human' didn't step in and stop the car from hitting the woman.

It could be that the woman just walked right out in front of them and the car didn't have time to stop.

I still believe they have a long way to go before this technology is ever perfected. Sadly no matter who is at fault, with a human against a car, the human loses.

Figured that would happen sooner or later and sure did not take long. Sad news and Uber cannot catch a break. To be fair they create most of their own problems. They just are the Epitome of a modern day American corporation who care more about profits than people I wonder if the person behind the wheel worked for them also. I would imagine so.

Sad to know This happened in spite of the back up driver. Probably, there was no time for him to react.

It was only a matter of time. Humans are unpredictable, no a.i. can ever compensate for that. Rest well and mylot later !

I read it yesterday and still don't understand why I would want to use a self driving car. I don't get all these technologies? Aren't they more important things to create rather than a self driving car.

That's a bad news, very tragic and scary. Sometimes, technology makes people's life easy but it has also disadvantages as well.
