Attack!

I had just turned out the light last night when there came a weird screaming sound. I got up to investigate and there was Onyx with something white in her teeth. Something white and screaming I might add. Turned out that the wife's hamster escaped and Onyx caught it. I finally got it out of her teeth and picked it up. Where it started biting me. Two bad bites on my left hand, the ring and index finger and two bad bites on my right hand, the middle and index finger. The left index and right middle ones are the worst. In fact, the right middle he punctured my finger nail. Well, its been eight years since my last tetanus shot, and after consulting my insurance's nurse line, she decided I probably needed one. Don't you know, I had left my purse at my brother's last night so I had to drive up to Georgetown - about 20 miles - to get it and then come back and go to the minor emergency center, because my doctor couldn't get me in until Monday. Well, if I'm going to go to the doctor for these bites, I might as well get my lip and other finger checked. He says that my lip looks like it might have some infection and because of the nature of the other bites, he also put me on an antibiotic. I told him it would have to be liquid because of the corn starch. So, I'm now up on my tetanus shot and I have a pretty nasty tasting med to take for the next 5 days.

Oh wow..one time my son's gerbil got lose and we located it beause the cat was watchng it. It made no attempt to grab it though fortunately. I think the cat I have now would probably tak a different approach! He is quite the moth hunter!

Me too, puncture wounds are the worst. And he went through the finger nail, I've never had that happen before!

@Jessabuma The only reason I grabbed the hamster was because he was a pet. A wild mouse or rat I would've been cheering the cats on.

Did the hamster survive the cat attack? It's good you got the antibiotics since your lip was already probably infected.

So far he's still alive. After I disconnected the wife this morning, I asked her to make sure he was.

Me too, but now both hands hurt. The right ring finger and left middle one had minor nicks, so of course tonight I managed to get the ring finger pulling some paper off a roll. Still can't really see the injury, but felt like a very minor paper cut.

@BarBaraPrz last time I had this many injuries on both hands, I fell off a horse! That time all the injuries on my left hand were on the heel of the palm, not the fingers.

Me too, and I don't have a real good reputation for doing so, part of why I decided I needed to check about the tetanus shot - turned out it had been 8 years. Now, that means I was 3 years over due for my tetanus shot needing injury.

@cintol that's why you need to get them quickly. The wife reached around and gave me a one armed hug and hit the shot site. Ouch.

@ElicBxn I will keep you in my thoughts that you heal with no problem, hopefully that tetanus shot will do its job and get into your system quickly.

Ouch! Doesn't sound as though the hamster expressed much gratitude for being rescued, but it may not have known that's what was happening. I'm sorry your were injured for your good deed and put to so much trouble to get your medical help. I hope you heal soon.
