Is Undercover Boss fake?

i love this show. It is where bosses of a company work with their employees under a disguise for a week, i think? To observe the chain, what needs to be improved and all. And then after it, the boss rewards some good employees, or fires some bad ones. I'm not sure if it is 100% real though, but it is enjoyable and quite touching sometimes.

yeah, i did see some youtube clips claiming that some employees featured in it are chosen specifically
