The Lists

I heard of bucket lists, task lists... A friend reminded me recently of an old colleague who had his specific list for his Miss Right: the lady had to be in that specific age group (20ish to his late 20s), her hair must be blond, she must be French and of a certain height, etc. (He was from the UK, highly educated, with average height, reasonable looking, from a good family. He had a good job at the time etc.) He played the field for a long time, searching for his Miss Right. Then one day he met her. She chased after him too so it was all good. They married and had a good marriage. His only regret: she was really a brunette. (He laughed hilariously, told me this. He was in his early 50s at the time.) NB. she left him for his best friend shortly after this. He aged suddenly overnight. --- Did you vaguely have a list re: your perfect match? I think I did have one when I was in my late teens. Of course, the list got changed with time. And with time, we tend to subconsciously set up more relevant lists. My current list is a task list. Do you have any? (eg, list of countries you would like to visit?)

I don't really have a list, I have preferences and maybe some things that if they don't have will be a dealbreaker. But nothing that is really about looks though. Though I do enjoy chubbier people more than anything else haha

you prefer the cuddly type . I have a gorgeous slim young friend who always seems to be attracted by 'cuddly' men. Her exes were all in that category. Won't be surprised if the current is another.

@YrNemo I do love the cuddly type haha I am a cuddly person myself. Most skinny people don't find me attractive anyway.

@YrNemo no, what i mean is, i hope i will still be healthy working even after 60 years old. a pioneer of the college of nursing where i studied still holds a high position in the hospital and he is already more than 60. my brother who is 53 also had his optional retirement and now, he is a consultant of a government agency here in the city.

You mean the hospital where you work, may not accept you if you pass 60? or that your health may not let you? I have acquaintances who work in South East Asia, they told me that some countries over there seem to force workers to retire at about 50 or so. So odd to me.

That's funny. I would avoid a French guy. That's sad for him. My list for a guy is that he has to be a Christian who lives a Christian life. I would prefer he be tall because I am, but I would feel badly to discriminate on height.

@YrNemo Ugh. I would hate to have a perfect guy. He would drive me nuts because I'm so far from perfect!

@bunnybon7 I think my brother in law has a moustache . (I used to think he was a bit odd (because of that moustache) when he first married my big sister years ago. With time, I sort of forgot that he is different to us .)

I don't think I had a list of what I wanted in a partner. If I should ever be looking for a partner my list now would be very particular. I do make lists of 'things to do'.

@YrNemo Same with us. Things get forgotten very quickly if we don't have a list.

The older and more settled people are, the list re: the right partner could become more specific to the extent of impossible. Re: task list, I have to do it now and then, my memory is not good any more.

You are right too. Talking about some young guys who went searching for their Miss Right, I heard that some said, 'My girl has to be of this size and this size re: bust, hip, waistline etc'

@aureliah True too, but those who did so, end up in divorce again and again since those measurements tend to change with times in females, despite how pretty they are.

No, but I need to do lists. I think it would help me focus..I used to make fun of my mother for making lists,,but crossing things off is empowering. My sister has to do lists..that probably stretch out the lenght of a legal pad. She has always been very driven. I think I am the opposite..she may get more done, but I think I am going to live longer....She burns herself out.

Some are happy that way, burn themselves out as fast as possible. I have a daughter who is like that so I know. A real go getter even if she had no energy left. The main thing is, she is happy (but I am not since I am her main support ). Oh well...

lol Yes well I always liked tall men with lighter hair and I married a man who is 5'7" and has dark curly hair, I think sticking to a list is crazy, just let love happen.

I swore to never have anything to do with pretty men. I ended up marrying one. Every time I looked at his pretty face, I thought to myself, 'why? Why? (he is not pretty anymore so it is no longer an issue!)

@YrNemo I have a small blackboard on a wall of my kitchen. As soon as I notice that an ingredient is needed I write it on the blackboard, when I am ready to go out shopping, I copy the list on a piece of paper. As I do not drive and I used to go shopping by foot, I learnt to be sure not to forget anything.

I have often made shopping lists. Sometimes I wrote one list on my palm, then one on a piece of paper, and in the end, I forgot the latter at home, while washing hands and erased the former unintentionally.

My list was employed, sense of humour and supports me in what I want to do. My husband retired a few months after our wedding. So I guess the employed part fell through.

My list fell through too, but it is a bit embarrassing to talk about it since it was too trivial (but important to me). I felt cheated a bit. I think I was tricked at the time.

I did make a list when I was a teen and had seen a woman do that on a reality show but mine didn't have appearances just qualities like loyal honest etc. I don't think most French women would be natural blonds so he really slimmed his chances there.

As a teenager the only thing I remember wanting in a boyfriend was height. I was always attracted to tall men and I married one. Countries on my list is all of Europe and China. But ideally I would like to visit every con=untry on the planet - I am a traveller

I certainly have preferences, but I have noticed that those preferences have changed over time. Features in a woman that I sought after in my teen years are different than features that I sought after in my college years, which were different than features I sought after when I was looking for marriage. But one constant that has remained steady for me throughout the years was that any woman I was interested in had to be blind so that I wouldn't scare her away! Haha, just kidding! She had to have a sense of humor in order to put up with me! LOL

I chatted with someone recently, she is a pretty Scottish but likes dark tall guys who come from places like Mauritius or Tahiti. I thought that was so amusing...
