i see sunshine

April 5, 2018 3:11am CST
I was awoken just before five this morning by something - or someone - unknown. I don't like that. One minute I'm fast asleep, dreaming of pleasant and happy things, and the next ... BOOM!!! Goodbye Sleep. Hello Thing That Woke Me Up. I assume these things are usually just in the head, annoying little occurrences which like to play games and increase anxiety levels. Was it the door? Was it a burglar? Was it the tellybox falling off the wall? Gosh, no. It was just my head, playing a silly little game. Once upon a time, I heard my Mumsy very clearly as she spoke my name. That was a trifle odd and I spent the next few hours being convinced that something awful had happened to her. Forty-five minutes later I got up and fed the cats. After a little while of trying, I did finally make it back to sleep, to be woken by Husband at seven-thirty as he kindly reminded me that I need to be up to take delivery of the garden furniture. I fully expect that to arrive at about four this afternoon, purely because I need to take a pee sample to the doctor's surgery before it closes. I was having an odd dream, where workmen were digging up the road and the road looked like a quarry site. Husband had no idea how he was going to get the car off the drive and get to work. I assume the Dream Husband never made it to work, and that Real Husband did. But, who knows? Anyways, that's quite enough of me rambling on about nothing in particular. I have washing to hang on the line {I see sunshine!} and a garden to weed, trim and tidy {I see sunshine!} *smile*

I am scared when I think to "hear a voice" that wakes me up. It happened in the past that I heard a voice and there was a problem.

I don't get the voice thing very often, but when I do it is usually my Mumsy and it is worrisome.

Thanks, they're from last year. This years crop are just beginning to wave their little faces at the sun now!

It does, indeed, look like a day for hanging out washing today where we are. 11am and not a cloud in the sky, though it's still pretty chilly - my thermometer says there are 5 centipedes (thanks to my old friend Chris South for introducing me to that measurement) . I also woke from a strange and rich dream (though I can't remember anything about it now) and the cat mewing at the window to come in. I have concluded that, because he wakes me most mornings at exactly 6am, he is responding to a neighbour's alarm clock which I can't hear but he can.

@Poppylicious He's very good about knowing that when I go to bed it's time for him to find somewhere else to go and he seems to understand 'bedtime' and 'goodnight'!

It could be his own personal alarm clock? My cats are very attuned to the time; they know when breakfast is, when dinnertime is, when home time is and when night time is. Spring Forward, Fall Back tends to confuse them, but their body clocks generally adjust within three days. They are creatures of routine and habit.

It's a beautiful day in the south west of england, plenty of sunshine which makes a change. Unfortunately it's making the dogs bound around with their leads in their mouth ready for their walk. I should have had cats!

@Poppylicious I used to have a cat that didn't like the cat flap, she took 2 years to finally use it. I couldn't believe it when I saw her fluffy tail disappearing through it one day!

@sprite1950 They're funny when they change their mind about something, aren't they?! We've never had a cat flap, which is both an annoyance and a blessing.

Cats are just as demanding when you don't have a cat flap. Out. No, in. Out. *just a joke* No, I really want to go out now. *run away* Lolz, you believed me? Okay, Out. *5 minutes later* Please let me in. *5 more minutes later* I've checked the house for you and found no bogeymen hiding in the cupboards. Please let me out to enjoy the sunshine again.

It doesn't happen too often in England; we have to make the most of it when we see it!

Sun is shining so bright here like when I go out I have to keep a water bottle and head cover in all cases or I can get sunstroke.

we do sometimes wake ourselves up with short sharp audio hallucinations when our dreaming isn't quite clear of our waking selves. It can be very disconcerting and confusing

@poppylicious I’m forever being wakened by phantoms knocking on my door, snakes crawling over me and a variety of people calling out my name. I’ve grown to ignore it. Except the snakes - serpents always need to be checked out for their unreality just in case.

It really messes with my head and I'm left in a state of oddness for the rest of the day when it happens. Luckily, it happens infrequently, but it's very disconcerting.

I've often wondered why we wake up when we do especially if there is no noise or any other disturbance.

I assume it goes back to when danger lurked among us and maybe the slightest noise coukd awaken us if our subconscious wasn't expecting it? It is frustrating though! Husband says it was blustery that night, so I probably just heard something move in the wind.

That's funny that you mention something or someone waking you up. I woke up in the middle of the night last night because I was absolutely convinced I heard someone knocking on my bathroom door. Of course that had to be a figment of my imagination, as there was no one there and besides, who would knock on a bathroom door? lol

Our imaginations have a lot of explaining to do, the pesky things!

This morning was unusual...it was the alarm that awakened me. Usually I am awake....who knows why...several minutes before the radio comes on. Dreams are not a regular occurrence,

I have many dreams. On work days I usually wake up four or five minutes before my alarm goes off. It's still a surprise when it does go off!
