Another of my very few antiques

I recently posted a photo of an old chaise-lounge which I’ve inherited from my mother. I was thinking that this was my only antique, apart from the piano but then I remembered I’d bought two pieces of ‘old’ furniture since we’ve been in this house. One is this dresser. Perhaps that’s not quite the right name for it but it stands in our entry hallway and makes a good display area for some of my Beswick and Border Fine Arts horse ornaments. In the cupboard on the bottom left are our photo albums which we’ll grab if we ever have to vacate the house in the event of a bushfire. I really like this dresser but whether it will fit in our new house when we need to downsize is anybody’s guess. Do you have any antique furniture?

That is a nice piece! I am 68 years old. Would I count as an antique? I've got some junk but no antiques.

I have several antique clocks, antique crockery and a side by side desk. I also have some antique chairs. I have lots of antique glassware as well. I love antiques and was a dealer at one time.

How great is that? I thought I might have collected more antiques at one stage but luckily the feeling passed. I mostly have a few old things of my mother's.

That is a lovely piece. Anne bought a very old sideboard/buffet a few years ago in a larger house. I am glad the dining room here could accommodate it, a large book case and the table and chairs.

@JudyEv I am left speechless often when the word I want is swimming up there somewhere, just out of reach. I asked Anne to confirm that is what her piece is called as I was writing it.

Sideboard! That's what I should have called it! Do you think I could think of that word when I needed it? I do hate getting old and forgetting words just when I need them.

@JamesHxstatic It make me feel so incompetent and even when writing, the word I want is nowhere to be found. Luckily if I go back next day I can sometimes dramatically improve what I've written. But it is very frustrating and quite depressing to think that it is probably never going to get any better.

I was about to say 'No, not a single antique thing in my house' when I suddenly remember my old piano. It is antique, circa 1877-1927. (Just a giant ancient piano, not pretty like yours.)

I'm not sure ours is so pretty. It is big and heavy. Ours was manufactured about 1890.

@JudyEv Wouldn't it be neat if they could? One of the stands was my grandmothers and she gave it to my mom. The other one was my mother in laws. I am so glad that I got them.

It's lovely! I love the design. It's a good place to display all your horse ornaments. I hope when you get to the time when you're ready to downsize, you'll still be able to have it.

I think by rights I should have called it a sideboard but I couldn't think of 'sideboard' when I needed it. I wouldn't normally have called it a dresser.
