Our little senior dog, once a small puppy- Now has gotten older and no longer feels yuppy. The rides he once took were the highlight of his day, Now he really doesn't seem to feel that way. He no longer jumps but walks very slow. It seems he is just not excited when it is time to go! What shall we do with this senior dog? Just hug him and spoil him all we can. Helping him enjoy life is the only plan. Do you have senior pets?

What you have to do is exactly hug him and spoil him all you can. Aging, we also become like your senior dog.

Yes, aging happens to all of us and we see him as one of the examples of what will happen to us @LadyDuck

@LadyDuck Maybe we should all take naps as often as our pets!

@PatZAnthony I am already feeling the effect of "aging". I was never tired until a couple of years ago.

My pet is going there, and i would love, hug and give him more of my attention because i believe he needs it more now than ever.

We spoil this one a bit more than the others b/c he really seems to be going downhill quicker than our other senior dogs. Just like humans, some dogs and cats and horses don't age as well as others do.

@chavezrmc This dog likes to be alone too, although we do have other pets. Like some humans, he prefers naps to socializing!

That makes sense @PatZAnthony I simply let my kritters nap and if Ally wants to play I play but she is 7 now and has slowed down some too.

@rebelann This little guy is only 11, but due to health issues along the way, probably feels much older than he is.

@PatZAnthony I do agree with you. It is like my granny at the age of 99. She's so spoiled with the family.

It is more fun to spoil the older ones than it is the younger ones. Kind of like spoiling our grandparents!

It's sad when dogs get so old that they don't really enjoy their life much.

Ours seems to enjoy life, but we do see his pain and know he'd rather sleep and not play these days!

What a cutie. Sandy is getting older but has not slowed down too much. She still has some years left in her. I hope your baby enjoys many more years.

Just love the senior dogs just as you love him when he was younger. Just like our parents, we should love and care for them in their old years, until they finally say goodbye forever.

A sweet poem Pat, very well written. Yes I'm afraid all we can do with senior pets is to make them as comfortable as we can and dread the day when we must lose them.

How do you enjoy having a rabbit for a pet? We thought about getting one in the future as there is a rescue here that often has an abundance.

@PatZAnthony My cat I had before Sophie lived to the age of 20 and I loved her just as much as when she was small. What you do is love and enjoy the dog as long as you have him.
