I just came across this piece of news which is quite disturbing. The blame goes to possums and mosquitoes But why Australia is fully not known CNN has this to say
Doctors have voiced concern about an outbreak of Buruli ulcer, a flesh-eating disease most closely associated with wetlands in Africa, which has seen a spike in cases in the state of Victoria, Australia.

@LadyDuck I think it started in West Africa but Australia getting it is a bit far fetched.

@allknowing I had a look at the map of the world where this disease is present. The West part of Africa is also affected, scary!

Where do bugs go is easy to understand as people come and go taking with them their germs. Sorry for Australia.

@marguicha The link talks about wetness being the cause and you could be right there.

That is scary news indeed. I remember when we had a particularly wet summer some years ago here in Latvia and they said there were some strange mosquitoes that had come in large numbers to here and that they could spread some strange virus. I remember that summer I was worried the whole time but luckily nothing happened even though everyone was scared about the news. Hope this problem can be solved, treated or someone can figure out what is really going on.

We just saw this too and we are going to Victoria in a few weeks. Perhaps we should postpone it but we won't because our son is there.

I thought of you while I was writing this post Judy. Australia is such a clean place and this story just does not fit there. You may have to find out more on this.

@JudyEv It is like every anti virus will generate a new virus

@allknowing I think sometimes we interfere too much with things and then bugs or bacteria or whatever mutate to be stronger and more dangerous than before.
