A Day of Achievements

Little man with his Endeavour Award
United Kingdom

Hello to you all. I realised it has been a while since I have been around. That would be mostly because I have not really had a great deal of time to pop in. I started a new job in January, my first proper permanent full-time job! On top of that, I also had a commission for some article writing. After some stress from something else, I finally finished the last of a set of twelve articles. So that's my achievement for today. I have also been into town for a St. George's Day Parade and local district Scouting awards. Lots of awards were given out but the final one, known as the Endeavour Award, was given to my little man. I knew he had been nominated but I had no idea that he had won it. When they started reading about the reasons 'this young man' won the award, it did not take long to figure out that it was Mini. They talked about how he was shy and reluctant to join in when he first started, and how he had flourished, taking part and having impeccable attendance. They mentioned that his first night away from home was spent at a camp, and that he had once celebrated his birthday at the Cubs 100 celebration camp, sharing a cake with a leader who also had a birthday. They talked about how he had embraced his love of acting through repeatedly performing in Gang Show, and they even included the fact that he had been accepted into a theatre academy/professional acting agency (he started with the academy last year and joined their agency last month). As they were saying how great he is, how far he has come, the fact he is autistic, and the added difficulties that he had in having come to a group where everyone went to a different school, my eyes began to leak. I honestly could have burst with pride hearing how he had achieved and overcome so much. His fellow Scouts were proud of him, as were the leaders and other friends. I saw an old friend of mine, whose son is in a different Scout troop in the same district, who knew my son's name but had not seen him for a few years. So she asked if it was my son who had won. Of course, I very proudly answered affirmatively. It was lovely to see my friend as well. We only see each other at events such as this every few years! While Mini and I were in town, I left Midi doing some housework so that some friends could deliver us a fridge and freezer. Midi also had some homework to do. He texted me earlier (he is at his Dad's) to say that he had done it and ask me if I had done my work! I am so very proud of both my boys. I am also proud of myself :) I might jump in the bath now, or I might have an early night. I have a day off tomorrow and Mini doesn't have school, so I can have a nice slow day. I have things to do but, now I have finished the articles, and I don't think I need to rush around for anything, I can walk to the one place I do need to go, and I can enjoy a day of doing things I want to do. Hopefully, the weather will stay nice. So, what have you (or your child/significant other/someone else) done today to make you feel proud?

Thank you. Article writing is awesome but hard work and this particular client doesn't pay well. Saying that, they're my first long-term client and they do pay on time!

I had actually forgotten I had put this on here. I wondered why I hadn't written anything about Mini winning that award. I didn't share it on my blog. I thought I would have done. At least it is somewhere. I didn't think I would have bypassed telling the world about that achievement!

@pumpkinjam Ah I wish the reward were more - but there is something to be said for long term customer and pay on time :-)
