Waiting for the gates to open

We have been to the Fairbridge Music Festival for many years. There is always a long queue on the Friday afternoon as those lucky enough to have the day off work get to the venue as early as possible in order to get a camping spot within cooee (close to) the showers, toilets and music venues.
This year we and our friends stayed at Pinjarra on Thursday night leaving us only 25 kms to drive next morning. We left at 8.30am but were still probably a kilometre from the front of the queue. As the gates didn’t open till 10am we hauled out our chairs and a table, made a coffee and settled down to fruit-cake, chocolate slice and a chat. I can’t think of a better way to start a festival. Check out the stripe on the bus.
Today is a public holiday in Australia. It’s ANZAC Day when we remember the men and women of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, many of whom gave their lives on this day 103 years ago at Gallipoli. Under each tree down the avenue at the entrance to Fairbridge is a small plaque commemorating a soldier who gave his life so we might enjoy the life we have today.

You all look so relaxed. Enjoy the holiday and the music festival. Is that your bus in the background?

The bus travelled really well. I'm sure the stripe is helping.

Yes thanks. We did have a good time. And the bus is ideal for camping in.

It was nice to get safely to that stage. We'd already dealt with lending our caravan to a friend and organising him and it, and picked up our friend from the train blah blah so at this stage things were looking simpler all round.

I do hope that there is such a thing as reincarnation so that those souls could return to a happier life. (But it wouldn't be fun to be killed in the first WW, reincarnated just in time to be whacked off again by the second WW, right? THAT would be too awful for words!)
