My Weekend - Cleaning Part 1

So as I mentioned in a post earlier today, I was over at my dad's from Friday evening to Monday morning. That is a very long time for me and I go over there to take care of his dogs. Which really isn't that hard, I have to wake up absurdly early in the morning to feed them but I do and I let them outside occsionally during the day and give them treats during the day and then let them out in the evening and then repeat for the next day. Did I mention there are 6 of them? That is the challenge. 4 chihuahuas, 1 boxer, 1 black lab/boxer mix. So there is a lot of woofin' going on. And a lot of yippin' There are also a lot of messes that I have to clean up. But this weekend I decided to go the extra mile. I wanted to clean my dad's house. More importantly, I wanted to clean the walls because they were filthy! I don't think these walls have ever been cleaned, it isn't normal to clean your walls I guess unless you have kids. But ugh for years I have been dog sitting I have seen these walls and I hated it, so I had to do something. My reasons for doing so was, well to be a nice person and a kind daughter, everyone loves to come home to a clean house after a vacation, for the dog's health because some have bad allergies and that dust always in their faces doesn't help, and also I have that weird trypophobia (the fear of multipe holes and cracks) and every time I went into that hallway I would get sick because I hated seeing all of the cracks from the dirt. So I pulled out a bucket, got some water and dish soap, a wash rag, a few towels and went at it. I washed two hallways, one being the hallway to the bathroom which wasn't that bad but there was still a difference and the hallway in which the big dogs sleep in and also the hallway that gets the most traffic of the dogs because it is what leads it outside. That hallway to the outside was not easy to clean. It probably took I think 3 hours to clean it, using all my muscle power. But I did it. The picture is just showing one side of the hallway and I am so proud of my hard work. The dogs were sure happy and I just felt so good about doing it.

They haven't said a dang thing to me yet, so I don't even know if they noticed.

Great job! The "Before" picture gave me flashbacks to the house I grew up in, because the walls there were also filthy like that. I also have trypophobia! Seeing "cluster" patterns or a bunch of holes makes my skin crawl! I first realized that when I was in first grade, but didn't know there was an actual name for it until a few years ago.

@DesirousDreamer Blech, I hate mold! My childhood home had a bad black mold problem...the smell always makes me feel sick! Sometimes our bathroom ceiling in my current apartment gets moldy, which I hate. I'm not sure if that's when my fear started, or if it's just the first incident I remember clearly. When I get migraines sometimes I see a honeycomb type pattern inside my head, which is horrifying!

@Srbageldog Yeah mold isn't fun, it was in my room but we managed to kill it, it was the bathtub leaking into my room it was crazy.

That was a major job and it was nice that you did it. Six dogs would be five too many for me.

I think 2 or 3 dogs is enough so they can have a buddy. But that many dogs and none of them are trained, it is a nightmare.

I would have cleaned the walls the first time I saw them like that. I cant stand dirty things. I hope they appreciated it and that the dogs allergies will be a bit better now.

It wasn't my place to clean their house. They should do it themselves, but they never did.

@DesirousDreamer I know that. But if it were me I wouldn't have been able to go there with them like that. So I would've cleaned them the first time I saw it, especially knowing they wouldn't.

I never knew walls could be cleaned until I puked on one and my grandpa proceeded to wash it with water. I thought you had to repaint them. Very well done.

Anything can be washed haha just some walls have to be dried so the water doesn't cause the paint to chip or the wall is drywall.
