Getting my wisdom teeth out soon

I’ve been waiting months for the day I could get my wisdom teeth out and Thursday morning that day will finally arrive. This office requires everyone to be put out even to have just one tooth removed. I do not want to be put out but there is no where else within an hour and a half that I can get it done. I’m not scared of being put out I’m afraid of having a crazy reaction like those people you see in videos saying and doing crazy things. My mother is driving me and usually the only way I get along with her is by remembering that if you don’t have anything nice to say not to say anything at all. I’m really worried I will say something awful to her after I come out of anesthesia. It would be horrible and I would feel so bad especially after she’s taken the time out of her day to drive me there (an hour drive one way). In other news my son and I have been busy with two big projects he’s had to do for school. I’ve been out geocaching and going for walks on these gorgeous days we are having. Also I started reading book “Devils’s Food Cake Murder” by Joanne Fluke. I’ve been watching the construction of this nest (in the photo) on the shed in my yard and cannot wait to watch the eggs be laid, hatch and grow. I’m just praying a cat won’t get them as it’s only about 4 feet off the ground.

I am sure all will be ok. You have an option to be put down or not, I got all 4 of mine & I chose to be knocked out.

@infatuatedbby that is lucky you can choose there. This office does not allow you the choice. When I said I didn't want to be put out they said then I would have to find another office to go to. My regular dentist told me that is their policy even just for one tooth removal you have to be put out.

@infatuatedbby I was told that even with a light sedative that people still have tension in there jaw so it makes it harder to get the teeth out. If your asleep your jaws all relaxed and they can open it as wide as possible to get where they need to get. My mouth is very small so I imagine I am going to be quite sore after they are done. Let's hope they don't break my jaw lol

@shaggin That is really crazy they do that. Perhaps it is to charge you for the medication or maybe some who don't get it (actually want it) when its happening and they can't reverse it so they do it to prevent any troubles.

Wisdom teeth are not really a big deal. I had mine done when I was 22. I had to have them taken out in the hospital, because they were impacted in the bone..and it was the only way the insurance would pay for them. I am sure you will be fine.

@snowy22315 mine are fine and the oral surgeon said they will be easy to pull so I'm not really worried about that I'm just worried about saying something crazy or mean when coming out of the anesthesia lol. My husband had his out in his 20s and I remember something about bone growing over it and skin so he had to have stitches after.

@snowy22315 my daughter wants my mother to video tape me I don't want anyone in the room at all until I am totally alert and aware of what I am doing and saying. I hope they let me recover in the room without rushing me out of there.

I hadn't really worked out what the photo was but I can see now it's a nest. I hope the extraction goes well and that you don't say anything you shouldn't.

@JudyEv It is hard to tell from this angle what the nest could be for some sorry about that. It was neat watching this in the stages the bird has been building it over the past week or so. It amazes me.

I shudder at your upcoming experience. I still have my wisdom teeth.

@JohnRoberts that is awesome you still have yours and I am assuming they don't bother you. I assumed I would just never get mine out as long as they didn't get cavities but after 17 years of putting it off I have changed my mind. It caused TMJ and makes my bite off so one side of my face looks longer the the other. The longer the area in the more then drop down and then it forms a triangular gap where you can't brush and a cavity will form between the teeth.

@db20747 I have been putting this off since I was 17 lol I'm 34 and the wisdom teeth cause TMJ and since I only have 3 it throws my bite off. I finally gave in and agreed to get them out. Thankfully the oral surgeon said they will be easy to pull so it should be an easy procedure.

@shaggin that's great!!! I've been putting mine off for 12. This is a good reminder to call a dentist and that I need an oral surgeon!!! I'm shaking as I type!! Just the thoughts of it!!!!

@pisipeahie everything went smoothly you were right. Impacted wisdom teeth are more trouble to remove but mine were easy to pull.

They numb the area where the tooth is. I do not know why you do not opt for that.

@allknowing All I wanted was novicane but they wouldn't allow it. It's their policy that even if you only are having one tooth out they put you under anesthesia. I was not happy about it at all but I had no choice.

@id_peace he has me taking an antibiotic every 6 hours for a few days to hopefully avoid infection. A low grade fever after is normal a higher one is not so I will keep an eye on how I feel.

@DianneN I wish they didn't make me put out I would have had no worries at all if I could have just been given novicane only and no anesthesia. Thankfully everything went smoothly and I'm doing great. I'm going to write an updated post with more nest photos (eggs ) after I catch up on notifications and take a shower.

Here is opposite than there, as they won't put you to sleep here for any removal. Which is why I have had to go about 1.5 hours away to get teeth out the last 2-3 years. But with my anxiety it's better for me to be asleep and they were my choice. I hope you don't say anything mean! But if so, just blame it on the meds! Tina is reading those types of books. :)

@Courtlynn yep I saw she was reading them and enjoying them so since I have 3 on my shelf I figured I would read one to see how they are. I'm 80 pages in and it's just okay nothing real exciting so far. My daughter wants to read them after me. I would rather live where you are and just be given novicane and not be put under anesthesia. There aren't any other dentists around here within an hour and a half drive that will take my insurance and pull teeth. I wouldn't want to have anyone have to drive me further then that. I hate not just being able to drive myself. I hate asking people to do things for me. I will pay her for gas since she will likely want to take her on vehicle that she is used to driving.

I am not so sure that you will be silly with this type of medication. But make sure you have someone video you, just in case and you can do youtube and go viral and make money

@RasmaSandra when I told her I wasn't worried about the pain only that I would say some mean to her or something she said she wouldn't care at all. She even thanked me today for me allowing her to drive me.

@Kandae11 What the dentist told me who referred me was that when a patient is given a light sedative they still have some tension in their jaw but if they are asleep there jaw will be totally relaxed and the doctor can manipulate it open as far as they need to get in there to get the teeth out. She said sometimes the teeth break as they are trying to get them out and patients panic sometimes.
