Received voicemails in Chinese or so I think...

The past few days or so I had a few calls from unknown numbers. I let the phone ring without picking it up because I don't pick up the phone from unknown numbers, unless I know I am supposed to get a call from someone. Whoever it was decided to leave a voicemail each time. I wish I knew what the person was saying but unfortunately, I do not speak Chinese. Though maybe they were not speaking in Chinese but it sounded like it to me. The last call was from California according to my iPhone's caller ID. The other one I do not remember what location was displayed, but it definitely wasn't from where I live. The iPhone can transcribe voicemail messages but for these two it wasn't able to do it. I wonder who it is that's calling me and what they want... I am assuming it's spam.

I am sure it is! I rarely pick up numbers I don't know because even if it appears to be local..it is just a scammer in most cases. They can leave a message if it is important.

I agree. There were times where I've gotten spam calls where the caller ID displayed a local number. I think that's done on purpose to make the person pick up.

How strange. I get a lot of marketing calls and as I have a caller display I never answer them. I wouldn't bother with these calls as there are so many scams about these days.

@lovebuglena I always check the dialling codes to see where they come from. If I don't know anyone in that area I will know it's just a cold caller.

A few days ago I had a voicemail from a local area code number. It was also in Chinese. It was the same message I've gotten before or at least sounds like it. It is annoying. I think this is the third call at least that I've gotten with that voicemail.

I remember my parents got a call from someone that had a Spanish accent asking for a certain person. They told the person they have the wrong number but the person kept on calling anyway.

Almost all of our calls from unknown or other states are scams.

It's crazy how many scams or spammy phone calls exist nowadays. And it's sad that there are people that fall for them and then end up getting screwed because of it.

Sounds like it's scam. I don't pick up numbers I don't recognise either.

@lovebuglena In our home, I think that if it is important people can leave a message.

The way I figure it, if it's important they will leave a message. Now my husband works in car sales. In his case, not picking up an unknown number can cost him a sale. So for him, it's best to pick up all calls.
