Returning Damaged Goods

Not even a month ago I purchased a pair of sneakers for my granddaughter. The sneakers she had been wearing since early fall had seen better days. I purchased her favorite characters, Paw Patrol, and decided not to wait for her birthday to give them to her. So, at the beginning of April, she sported a new pair of sneakers. Sad to say that they didn't last even a month. I had noticed a few days ago that the velcro was pulling away from the closures and there stitching in the to box was gone. So off to Walmart I went in search of a new pair of sneakers. I also went to the service desk to see if I could get a refund on the other pair of sneakers. As luck would have it, I couldn't find the receipt for them. So, no refund for me. I gave the old pair to the woman at the service desk and told her to trash them because they were nothing but junk. I put the new sneakers on Little Miss and we left the store. I know there are people who would have brought both pair home and later returned the tattered sneakers with the recent receipt. However, I am too honest to do something like that. My advice, keep the receipt. You never know if you'll need to return an item.

It's such a shame those sneakers wore out so fast

They certainly don't make them like they once did.

That is terrible. I have also had shoes that I have bought and in a month they look like something I took out of the trash. Glad you found a new pair for her. Hope this one lasts.

They were the same style of sneaker, so I do hope they last longer. If they don't I do have the receipt tucked away.

I have never returned used shoes or anything, but now I know that is possible if a receipt is present. There are some items I buy and the quality is just horrible but then I'm stuck with it. Sorry to hear they couldn't offer you credit or anything.

@infatuatedbby I have to go to Walmart today to pick up a few items. I am going to talk to one of the managers.

I had been offered store credit on items returned that were defective. I was a bit puzzled why I wasn't at least offered store credit. Maybe I will call the store to ask about this.

@ElusiveButterfly I never knew this! I do know Walmart if you call corporate they’ll help you immediately. On my app, as well as confirmed with the employees (2), store manager (1), salary manager (1) = 4 people a price of a product and they agreed but somehow couldn’t work the system to give me that price. The manager suggested I call the 800 number which I did and they were able to help me and called the store directly and I was on the phone with them until the store figured out a solution.

I'm honest too. Good advice to keep the receipt. I'm sorry the sneakers didn't last even a month.

I always intend to keep receipts and I keep them in a safe place - then can't find them.

I am going to start placing them in a box where it is clearly visible to me. That is about the only way I won't misplace them.

@JudyEv I need to get a filing cabinet to place things in. But, finding a spot to put the cabinet in would be a problem. I have no extra space.

@ElusiveButterfly We have a filing cabinet so I have no excuse really. I just need to get my act together.

That is terrible. Here the Wal-Mart would give you a store credit or exchanged them for a new pair if you didn't have the receipt. They are good like that.

I think I just got a clerk who wasn't on her game that day. I am going to talk to a manager today.

@Happy2BeMe I didn't make it to Walmart today. As luck would have it, I needed to be home for a delivery.

Unfortunately this thing happens with me very often and I also end up with the same results as you had! It is very important to keep the receipts...we all know but then I am a person who never paid any attention to this. I am sure that your grand daughter must be very happy with her new sneakers now! Have a great time with your grand daughter! God bless @ElusiveButterfly ! Thanks!

I have an app in my phone that I can scan the receipt and store it. However, this receipt was not to be found. Live and learn.

That is a shame that happened. Glad you were able to find another pair and yes I try to keep receipts but tend to lose the sometimes or accidentally throw them out.

I have always thought that Walmart would give you credit even without the receipt, I am pretty sure that Kohl's would have,

I was surprised that I wasn't offered a credit. So I am calling the store to speak to a manager today.

I'm terrible at keeping receipts too, but those sneakers shouldn't have worn out that quickly.

I am still a little angry over the fact that they didn't even give me a store credit to replace them.

I e been keeping receipts for shoes bought at Walmart for a number of years. If they fall apart quickly (which I've had several pairs do) I can return or exchange. The running shoes I have now are a mere 9 weeks old...but they have at least walked 200 km or more.

I'll have to start keeping the receipts for her shoes or other items I have purchased there. So far I have had good luck with clothing, but you never know.

I do the same. Just returned a couple of shirts I "thought" I would wear, but never did.

The velcro is usually the first thing to wear on the shoes. I have even extended the life of the velcro by sewing it back in place.
