Most people like to think when they are leaving their house that they are going to have a safe trip. Truth is, no one knows what is around the corner just waiting for us. I had two very scary and unusual place in my car that I never want to happen again.
The first one was many years ago and I was pregnant with my first child. I was ready to deliver in another month or so. My husband and I were driving home from Long Island in the evening and we got a blow out on the George Washington Bridge. Luckily we were on the outside lane and not the center lane. He got out to see what we can do and I got out to see what he was doing. I never knew the big bridge swayed as much as it did. I really never thought about it until that moment.
The bridge was packed as it was after a weekend and people were returning home. Luckily the police stopped by us and put cones on the road to move the traffic over. Soon a tow truck showed up and changed the tire.
I am surprised I did not deliver the baby right then.

We've only gotten a flat once while driving. That's it. and on a regular main road.

@Courtlynn I am glad my dad taught me some things and then I got into car racing and learned a whole lot more from my friends there.

I don't like packed highways. I try my best to avoid them. Glad your situation was resolved quickly.

@ramapo17 Another reason I don't live near a big city.

Not a breakdown but ending up in a ditch in middle of nowhere Utah and lucky a cruising tow truck came along.

I did! Unusual in the sense I had never been there before. I was coaching tennis at the time and took the team up to a college for a match in upper Sussex County (cannot remember the school). Anyway, my water pump broke and we were stranded. Thank goodness my brother-in-law picked us up. He was the closest in the area, by Readington I believe?

I am a bit scared of driving over bridges so I would have certainly had the baby right there if it were me.
