If you saw lots of money on the highway would you pick it up?

A Brinks truck was driving on a highway in Indiana and somehow the back door opened and money fell out onto the Interstate. The driver didn't know this was happening until another driver waved at him and pointed to the back of his truck. People stopped their cars and jumped over fences, grabbed some money for themselves and went their merry way. One of them was a school bus driver. Police asked people to return the money. I wonder how many will actually come forward and give that money back. Taking that money is considered stealing. While it's tempting to go and grab as much money as possible and stuff it into my bag, I don't think I would do that if I were there. Would you?

My wife has actually done it.. We were on our way to a temple when she saw a stack of money. Fortunately, we found the owner looking for it at a short distance. We asked him the details and returned it to him.

No, I won't pick it up and I will try to make them notice the incident.

Why not, I suggest you to pick it up and try to find the owner.

@suni51 Holding all that money in your hands would make it tempting to keep that money for yourself.

@suni51 What I have written there? I clearly written, instead of picking the money I will try to make them notice, (the people who are in vehicle).

If I ever found an old suitcase and it was all moss covered and decaying, and I found it contained hundred of thousands... I would invest in one of those pens to see if money is counterfeit or not!

In that situation, no. If it was just money floating around then yes.

I might grab the money but not because I want to steal it but because I'm gonna return it to the real owner. If someone will claim it then I'm gonna give it to them. Then if no one claims the money I guess I'm so damn lucky.

So, if no one claims it you keep the money?

@lovebuglena Yes, I might keep the money for 10 years after that I'm safe to spend it.

It would play on my conscience in a negative way if I took some money and didn't turn it in.

I think I would feel bad taking the money.
