How do you spend your time at the beach?

My Irish son-in-law is very pale and has sensitive skin. Needless to say, he does not enjoy the beach as we do. The picture above depicts how he spent his time on the beach. The rest of us were back and forth between sun soaking and swimming. How so you spend you time on the beach?

Before my children were born I lived in Kent and I liked to visit pretty coastal locations to look at glorious views of the English Channel. I liked to see Dover Castle on the beautiful White Cliffs of Dover. I enjoyed strolling on the pebbles of Hastings Beach. There I enjoyed going up to the cliffs to see the very ancient castle. I have taken my children to Albania opposite Corfu Island in Greece. There they liked to play on the sandy beach with a bucket and space. Now they are 10 and 8 years old they don't like that sort of trip anymore. We went to the Philippines and my daughter wanted to go into the sea with me. We did some swimming together. I loved seeing the white sand beach and gently waving palm trees. The weather was calm and it wasn't too hot. Earlier in our trip we visited a palm fringed beach in Sri Lanka. The weather was too hot for my children to enjoy. At first my disabled son played on the sand by a shady wall. My daughter paddled in the sea. My disabled son doesn't walk and it is hard to carry him on to the beach. I suggest getting a sun safe tent for your Irish son-in-law.

I agree. Sun soaking and swimming. Your son in law probably has the right idea to protect his skin though.

I can totally sympathise with him as I have fair skin too. I still have fun on the beach though. I just make sure I wear plenty of sun cream and cover up if it gets too hot.

I usually just sit at the seaside and listen to the sea waves.

If he has sensitive skin, he'd better not go to the beach. He looks very painful.

Some people really aren't meant for the beach are they? I brown fairly easily but my husband burns if he isn't careful.

@gnatsmom I on the other hand love the beach. I go in the water a little and then I sit on the chair and get a tan.
