Do some mylot discussions irk you?

They do me. What irks me the most is when someone chooses an interesting title then goes on to tell about their entire day that has nothing to do with the title. By the time I finish reading I feel betrayed that the discussion had nothing to say regarding what the title suggests. I'm left confused and wondering what to say. For me it's a waste of time reading. Another thing that irks me is the one line discussions. I've completely stopped reading and responding to them. I don't normally go on a rant but tonight I had to say it. I'd certainly like to hear your views about this and learn what it is that irks you about some mylot discussions.

I agree. Some titles are very misleading, when that happens to me I just quit reading once I realize what I'm into and move on. What else can we do? I stay away from one-liners and from anything too political or religious also.

I don't mind politics or religion, as long as the writer has an open mind.

I have, in the past, written a title that had nothing to do with the discussion for the sole purpose of seeing who actually pays attention and who doesn't. It irks me when I write something out and the person only responds to the title itself. That's why I try to avoid question titles as much as possible. I also avoid one liners.

@TheHorse It would be nice to figure that out, wouldn't it? Especially as you could avoid the users who only respond to respond. There are plenty of those. I've had some that basically give me back my question, but as a statement.

I've done the same kind of thing (when grumpy). I wonder what percentage of MyLotters actually read posts thoroughly.

@TheHorse I get those comments too. And they are usually the people who wrote the discussion! Ever notice that those members don't respond to your discussions or have something to add to their own?

I dislike discussions that are actually lectures instead. Sure, you may have an opinion about how to be healthy or some other thing, but do not talk down to me. I am pretty smart. One liners are on my do not read list. I like to make my titles funny or punny, hope they are not some you dislike.

A lecture from certain writers (more clever than I am) about the health benefits of a sausage-only diet could be pretty amusing, I suppose.

No. Im talking mainly about some of the newbies who don't know how to begin a discussion.

I think what irks me the most is when someone leaves a comment suggesting they haven't even read my post or comment. "My mother recently passed away and my hemorrhoids are flaring up." "That's great! God bless!"

@Starmaiden Pity. I blame my belly bloat, penile atrophy, and bunions on the same.

@TheHorse I know what you mean. Read the first and last word then post accordingly...posts like that cause my hemmorrhoids to act up.

@Jessabuma Is that so the conversation can just sort of die off? Some people just use an emoji. Then I kind of knew we're done.

I don't like anything hateful. I try to spread love where ever I go so spreading hate kind of upsets me a bit.

Hope I have never irked you. I don't like the one liners either. I think a little more effort should be put into a discussion then typing up one line.

Hi Lucinda. I agree with you sometimes it is a waste of time reading discussions wherein the title and the content are not connected plus no effort from people to at least say more than three lines on their discussions.

I've seen some that bother me, and usually it's subject matter. for those, I generally don't comment. Beyond that, I guess I go with the flow!

i think if i find out that a discussion gives me little or no enthusiasm, i can just leave that post and move on. i cannot anyway change the discussion itself, more so, advise or suggest the poster to change the post. about one-liners, i shy away from reading and commenting on them, even if it is a question or just a piece of the user's mind about any thing.

After reading some, I do not know how to respond. I try but skip them rather than give a meaningless reply too! siva
