Good Things Come to Those Who aren't Hasty

Most of my friends here know our son and his bride are living in our Connecticut house with us. They've been invited to do so by us when our son sold his house in January. We wanted them to use it while we were in Florida for the winter rather than rent a house while they searched for a new home. We have been home for over four weeks. They have been looking, bidding and have been outbid on many houses. Well, the fantastic news is that they signed a contract yesterday. They offered more than the asking price, and finally lucked out. I took that photo with my husband while looking at the new house, yesterday. It has everything they've been looking for in their dream home. It has a huge entry foyer, open concept, an office, four bedrooms, a bonus room, three car garage, full basement, a second floor laundry room with sink, an all season room, and a beautifully landscaped property with level land. It's on a corner lot with a culdesac on a beautiful street with magnificent homes. The very, very, very best thing is that it is in our wonderful town and only two miles up the road from us!!!! We are all so happy for our son and his bride. We needed some good news for a change. Don't you agree?

They are over the moon. Someone bought it out from under their feet one month ago, but couldn't sell their home to a buyer. That buyer couldn't get a mortgage.. What a stroke of luck!

@Tampa_girl7 Thanks, Marie. We truly didn't think they'd be able to live in our town. Houses are prime and not often sold in their comfort range. If they have a baby, grandma is close by!

Congratulations to them. As for you ....... YEEEEEHHHHAAAAA, they won't be too far away when the grandkids arrive. Sooo, do you suppose the bride will have her kids at home with the help of a midwife? I've heard many women are considering that.

You are welcome @DianneN Well, your new DIL does seem to have all things put in perspective so she's probably planning the perfect time to become a mommy. I have read about the whole birthing in water idea and it seems so natural. I haven't heard of Doula's before but I just looked it up and it sounds like your first DIL had the right idea. Were both grandchildren born in the same way? I know, I'm nosy, you really don't have to answer, I'm just curious.

@rebelann Actually, my older daughter-in-law is a Doula. too. She gave birth quickly to my granddaughter in the hospital, so figured it would be easy for her at home. She is something else. She is a practicing Doula right now and teaching law at City College New York. There is nothing she can't do.

Thank you! We are so darn happy for them. The house is turnkey, but they will put their stamp on it. Don't ask me! She isn't even pregnant. Lol! My other daughter-in-law gave birth in a pool of water in her living room with the help of my older son and a birthing doula. Unbelievable!!!!

@Hannihar Doodles is a bit quiet, but he did manage to catch his second chipmunk of the season. He hates his medicine, so we grind it up and put it in his food. He has so many pills to take, poor boy.

That's a huge house for two people. Are they planning on doing a lot of entertaining? It is great they are so close. I think it would be great to be two miles from my son, however, where he is living now..costly, crowded and too much traffic.

I hope they plan on filling it with a child or two. Lol! We are thrilled they'll be so close to us and not too far from her parents. I hear ya. Our older son, his wife, and the grandkids live in Manhattan. It's 75 miles from us, the the traffic is unbearable.

You silly! He works hard for his money. Of course, we will help him out a little bit. We did it for our older son, so it's only right that we do it for him. It's done with love, of course.

That is literally what my dream home looks like, except it is grey or black...haven't decided how extreme of the "weird" neighbor I want to embrace when I finally get to that part of my life. Congrats to him though, that is amazing!

That is a beautiful home and just far enough so they can have a life and privacy but you can see them often. I love the widow walk on the second floor, always have loved that about that style of house. Congratulations to them and I hope they make many memories in their new home.
