Goose on the loose!

My mom was making her way home from walking to Home Depot where she met this beautiful beast. I say beast because apparently the thing went up to my mom's elbow. My god.
There was another lady and someone on a bike trying to get this big guy out of the street.
The lady was getting food but the goose would act a little aggressive.
My mom managed to get it onto the sidewalk using a piece of wood she got from home depot by waving it and it ran up to the sidewalk and it actually stood next to my mom, just inches away.
Animal control was called and I hope the goose is safe.
That is so random. I'm sure this goose was either domesticated and escaped the home or maybe it got lost because it is super windy when flying from a park.
Silly goose, it is so beautiful though!

Poor goose, she looks lost. I agree with @Starmaiden, looks like a Canada goose and it's possible it has been separated from its flock.

Yeah that is what I though. Poor thing, but I'm sure it was brought back to a park or something so it can find it's flock again.

A wild goose can be extremely aggressive and mean! They do bite:( I"m glad your mother shooed it off the road.

I know they bite, I have experienced it. But it was very calm to my mom and didn't even try to attack her. Where as the other lady it did get a little angry.

@DianneN They can be. Some are so used to being around people that they are pretty calm, especially Canadian geese.

Yeah that is what I thought. I'm sure it made its way back or at least taken to a park and it can regain where it belongs

I love geese. I have a photo somewhere of me, years ago, at Cape Cod "talking" with 3 geese who kept following me around as if I was their leader! I didn't learn until years later that they can severely bite. I was just honking at them and they were honking right back!

Geese are beautiful, but they like to attack me haha I remember being taken down but 4 geese when I was kid. Gosh do they bite so hard.

It was around that area for 2 days apparently. But yes it really liked my mom!

Looks like a Canada goose. It may have gotten separated from its flock. I've been "goosed" once or twice. It does hurt.

Geese can be aggressive and are not often afraid of people. More than likely, people are afraid of them, especially if there is more than one around. Glad your mom made it out safe and sound and did not get a nip by this goose.

OH I know how aggressive geese can be. Little 4 year old self was attacked by 4 geese. It was more of a concern to save the goose than worrying about herself.
