Learning, Learning and More Learning for a Better Life

Everyone knows I like the primitive way of life, grow and make my own food, sun for power, a well for water.
Its not just the old fashion way but it also cost less. But its hard work just like working 9-5 daily.
Last night I took an hour and learned more about things I want to do, and I did not know how simple it is, and I pay $5 for that item, when I can make 10 of those for $5!
And I also learned the difference between two plants that look alike. Last year, I am sure now, that I had the poison plant, I touched the root to my tongue and it tingled so I threw it away, . I know I should not do that now but then I did not know there was a look alike.
I have my mind set to do this ..... thing, and from home. I can`t say what it is yet but I will as soon as I get established.
How about you, do you do research on how to make things so you can have a better life for years to come?

I do. I'm trying to do more about living off the land and trying to garden more fruits and veggies. I have also been looking into raising chickens for eggs.

a ton of neighbors do this. Its funny when chickens occasionally wander into my yard. I've been thinking about getting a few of my own, but I'd really have to put up a fence to keep one set of neighbors uncontrolled dogs from eating them. :(

@Daelii we would have to make a fully enclosed coop because we live in the middle of nowhere and there's wolves and such.

Good for you, hopefully more people will start to do that but at 68 I don't care to start that anymore, my energy levels are much lower than they used to be so I'll stick with paying $5 for one cuz I know it'd take me too long to figure out how to make 10 for $5, call me lazy I guess.

We all slow as we age but that doesn't mean you won't have energy @andriaperry you'll probably just need to nap more.

Spray it heavier in a shady area, the parts I did in the full sun? Worked best and I am satisfied with the results.

The simplicity of life is always better for me too, Andria.
If I really want to learn or know something, I ask people or I watch in Youtube or research for it.

I am always trying to learn how to make things or cook things that will save money or be a little unusual.
The internet is a real boon to those who want to do things, but I have seen some instructions that are not right or give an inferior product to the real thing. I am thinking cheese and dairy products that, made the real old fashioned way are awesome, but with shortcuts and modern appliances are only so-so.

@andriaperry That's interesting. I would never have thought of that, but I guess yogurt is one of those products that doesn't last long? It seems like it should, kind of like cheese. I guess you can dehydrate anything!

I am impressed! I never had any idea about your wonderful life style! I am happy that you have a style to differentiate a friendly plant from a poisonous look alike plant! in fact I have posted a discussion where I have mentioned how we have become slaves of the electric power and this post of yours has come as a pleasant cool shower in scotching hot summer! Thanks !

I research now more than I used too. I wish I had been smart enough years and years back to follow my granny around and pester her more about things. She was half indian and knew a lot of the things about living that are slowly getting lost even in the tribes.

@andriaperry That was my problem. By the time I was old enough to start thinking of that stuff she was not able to get around easy. She told me what she could, but could not show me the stuff. I have known since I was little that all parts of dandelions are usable because of her. But many things I just did not register.

I have always like living simply, like you primitive way. I find joy in simple living. I am talking my husband into turning a small space in our yard to a garden. I want to plant some edible plants so we can save money.
When I want to learn something, I usually research on the net or watch youtube.
