Lost Items

You know what happens every time you put something where you will never lose it? You always do. This past weekend I noticed my clock in the living room had stopped, so I went looking for the batteries I knew I had, and thought I knew where I put them. I'm still looking. I also have a watch that needs a new battery. Kay Jewelers has a free battery replacement policy, but you need the original receipt to get the battery replaced. I've held onto that receipt for many years, and just replaced the battery a year ago. I asked why it needed replacing so often. The clerk said it needs cleaning. When she told me the price of a cleaning. It can wait. However, I need to find that receipt, which I also thought was in a place I would easily find it.
So, now I'm on the hunt for two items so I can get the clock in the living room taken care of, and my watch battery. If I can find that receipt today, I can get it replaced tomorrow as I will be in the area where the mall is where I get the battery replaced. I have a hair appointment tomorrow. So, I can take care of both at the same time.
Now, I just need to find them so I can do that.
Have you lost something you knew where you put it? How long did it take you to find it? Or did you purchase it new and then found what you were looking for?
Thanks for reading.

Hi Valerie. Yes, a lot of times and my husband would usually tease me about it until I realize it was just there in front of me along.

That's really bad when it's right under your nose and you missed it, which I did, three days running. I'm glad I found the batteries, which were on the desk instead of in it. I also found the receipt, so I have a new watch battery now.

@just4him Yey! I am glad you have a new watch battery now. Speaking of which, I should buy one too.
It is really frustrating as if nature is playing a trick on you.

@just4him Writing things down definitely helps. But when I lose my list, I lose a lot. It's a week list of everything - from groceries to what we eat, but also it's a week's worth of where I have to go and do (besides go grocery shopping).

I usually don't make out a list because I always forget it at home. But, I've started a new tactic. I have a memo pad on the fridge. I write the grocery list on there. Writing it down, at least helps me remember what I need, because I wrote it down.

I hope you find both the receipt and the batteries. Interesting both items are time pieces.
I have done that many times. Put "it" somewhere where I know where it is... and find it years later after I've purchased whatever it is many times over

@FayeHazel Yes, now I'm not looking at my watch every couple minutes, or maybe I am, I just don't notice it until it needs a new battery, then I realize how often I look at my watch. Even when I go in the living room my eyes go immediately to the clock.

I hope you find what you are looking for. I am pretty obsessed with putting things in the exact place they should be but it still happens to me from time to time.

I'm not obsessed, but everything is usually in my office, and in my desk or on it, so whatever I'm looking for is usually easy to find. I did find the receipt for Kay Jewelers and the batteries yesterday, so now the watch has a new battery and the clock does too.

@BelleStarr I think the only thing I come close to being OCD would be my writing. I also hate typos with a passion. I found one yesterday in something I wrote, and that irritated me no end. It's fixed.

It's annoying when it happens. I found both items, and the watch has a new battery now.

I hope you found it.... I often have a similar problem... I put something away...for safety /security...so I don't loose it .... and then forget where it is...it's most annoying...

My mom bought a new tire pressure thing back in December, and put it in one of the kitchen drawers, but couldn't find it.. she has been looking for it again this past week.. and found it tonight, in that drawer LOL

That is why I always want to have a small place because I can easily look for the things where I keep it.
So far I have a small room so that means I can easily look for things.
Sometimes it does happen to me, I misplace some of the things I hardly needed.

I'm always losing my crochet hooks - which is horrible because I have a case I try to keep them all in, except the one I'm currently using.
I hope you find the receipt and batteries!
I keep a "junk drawer" in the craft room/office for extra cords / usb chargers and batteries!!! It helps most of the time, but if hubby puts things away he doesn't put it in there then its lost! lol

I have junk drawers in my office - my desk drawers, I have a junk drawer in the kitchen, and one in the living room. I found the Kay Jewelers receipt in the living room and the batteries on the desk, not in it.
I'm glad you found your current crochet hook.
