Okay, after being on this site for only a couple of hours, I think I finally want to talk about the one subject that is always the most intriguing to discuss, in my humble opinion. What is your worst fear? What makes your skin crawl? What makes your bones grow cold and fills you with that sickly, swirling feeling of anxiety in your gut? You know what I'm talking about. Does it keep you up at night? Does it interfere with your daily life? Is it something that you're simply afraid of in general, or is it an actual phobia? I want to know. I find the subject of fear very interesting because it's something that grounds us and keeps us all connected. For example, some people lack empathy or remorse. Some people lack the ability to be kind or humble. And some people simply lack the ability to be happy. But I have yet to meet a single human being on this planet that lacks fear. I believe it is because fear is a necessity for survival. I suppose I can start by saying that I have lilapsophobia: a severe fear of tornadoes or hurricanes. My fear is a product of PTSD that was given to me following a terrifying experience with a tornado when I was younger. My fear is so bad that I get extremely anxious at the mention of approaching severe weather. The faintest rumble of thunder will wake me, stormy winds send me into a panic. And upon hearing tornado sirens, I will have a full-fledged anxiety attack. God forbid the power goes out or even worse, if I am home alone during the event, I am usually inconsolable -- sobbing, shaking, the whole nine yards. During the spring and early summer seasons, I probably spend the majority of my time on my phone keeping myself consistently updated with the forecast. The worst part is, while this is happening, I KNOW that my behavior is irrational. I KNOW that my fear is exaggerated, but knowing that still doesn't help me calm down when the event is actually occurring. It's frustrating and embarrassing at the same time, especially when someone else is there to witness it. So, do tell, what is YOUR fear? Is it among the common universal fears? (Spiders, heights, tight spaces, etc.) Or is it something more in-depth? Is it a result of an event, or is it something you've always been afraid of? Come chat with me about fears/phobias if you have the nerves to do so!

I am scared of heights. Tornados are a reasonable thing to fear.
