Snacking a pine cone... yummy

Another food that we saw while wandering the forest is this. Yes, don't doubt, I meant the flowers of this pine tree, or shall I say the baby pinecones. It tastes like mint. Therefore, it is good to freshen breath. These flowers have a high vitamin C content. Have you tried eating pine cones? If not yet, get the budding ones or the baby pine cones.

I didn't know they were edible. I only see pine combs when they dry and fall off the tree. Our pine trees are tall.

@RubyHawk ahh yeah maybe this is a different kind of pine, I asked my BF and he said the same it is a pinecone tree.

well maybe if you see the buds on early spring you can give a try. This was new to me as well.

@Mavic123456 Our pine trees are too tall to see the buds. Maybe pines are shorter in other places.

try it. if you see one you might like it. some also put a few bits in fresh salad.

We don’t have pinecones that you can eat over here. I think I’m allergic to pine trees anyway.

@crossbones27 good then you can survive here in Thailand, cheap place and very accessible to everything two problems needed to address though, 1. spicy food 2. very few people speak and understand English.

don't get the matured one because you can't eat them, thorny and hard. The blooming flowers are the soft ones.
