Families that eat together

It is a saying that
"Families that eat together and pray together stay together"
We try to eat together on weekends as a family. On weekdays it is not possible due to different routine and timings of each member.
What is the case in your family?? With a fast paced life and demands of life, how valid is the saying?

We try to take our dinner together, at least. You are right that on working days, it is not possible to sit together and take lunch or dinner.

I think it's a good saying but I live alone and so most of the time I eat alone.

@arunima25 I was married twice and raised 4 children and always enjoyed eating together. These days I have also come to enjoy being alone.

@arunima25 no I refer to my sisters and brother, nieces and nephews, we used to be a "big" family when we were younger. Then each had his/her own career, then family.

I assume from this that your children are grown up and moved out. Who are you staying with?

We have the same situation. The food is tastier though when we eat together though it's the same food.

@simplfred There is always a special family dish that we enjoy as a family. I think every family has one such dish which has so many memories around it.

I live alone, so I don't have that problem. When my kids lived with me, it was hard to have everyone at the table at the same time. It was easier when they were kids.

I can understand. As they grow up, they have more engagements and it is tough to get everyone at the same time.

I think it is a very true saying but if it isn't possible it doesn't mean you won't have a good relationship within the family. You can make up for it in other ways.

I tend to agree, though I think it is all in the quality and not the quantity

Yes we do all the time. But I think it's not on the dining table that makes you closely knitted. It's the interaction with your family and the time you spend with them

We do, because it is the only time we spent to talk how things are going. :D
