The traffic is already getting nuts out there

I take the Garden State Parkway for part of 25 minute trip to and from the gym each afternoon/evening. At 4:15 when I am heading north there is usually a bit of traffic starting to head southbound--commuters coming home from NYC and other north Jersey points. The traffic is gone by the time I head south myself at 6:15. NOPE! Not tonight! It was a hot mess. I almost got right off as soon as I got on but I figured that it would take me just as long to get home taking the local roads as the towns I'd have to go through have their own traffic challenges. So the Thursday night commute was bad. Tomorrow it will be awful all day. I need to remember to NOT get on the Parkway to go home after grocery shopping. (I use it even for just 1 or 2 exits) I'm even questioning my thought of going to the gym on Saturday morning because there will still be people coming down to the beach then and I'll have to be on the Parkway at like 9:15 am--prime traffic time. I am VERY LUCKY to live in such a beautiful place (yes, people, the New Jersey shoreline is incredible!) but we locals certainly do have our frustrations in the summer.
